VPS or virtual private servers from companies like tera-byte,datahosts, and remarkable hosting are great alternatives.
Wanted to know they offer 2 gb of space and 30 gb of transfer and is this all for me or does this involve the OS and any other software that i install....

The description for these types of packages should state if the diskspace is the actual amount listed or if it varies slightly due to the O/S install and software most of the time it should be actual but I would check with the hosting company just to be safe. The bandwidth is all yours obviously :D

I would ask the tech/sales guy of the company about the hard disk space. I have experienced in my past that some providers will give you a 'virtual box' that includes 2GB HD space and has only 1.3GB to 700MB free on it because the OS is installed there too.

As for bandwidth, most people providing a virtual machine to you will charge for any traffic coming from your box. This would include FTP/Mail/WWW/HTTPS/SSH/Telnet, etc. basically software that is in the virtual box that communicates over the net. And is the traffic measured in bits or bytes? (Eight bits in a byte) 30 Gbits = 3.75GBytes.
