View Full Version : 2checkout/revecom
Gyrbo 03-01-2002, 05:20 PM I kinda doubting between those 2.
RevEcom:
+ Advanced features like dumping all transactions to a CGI script
+ Lower fees
- No customization at all
2checkout:
+ Customizable header/footer
Wich one do you use? Which one is better?
(SH)Saeed 03-01-2002, 06:57 PM We chose 2CheckOut.com over RevEcom.com for the following reasons:
1 - A much quciker setup (don't need to fax them tons of papers, etc).
2 - They offer customized header/footer.
3 - They are cheaper (depending on how much you charge).
Now let me get into a little more detail on the 3rd reason. RevEcom charges $1.00 + 3.95% per transaction where 2CheckOut only charges $0.45 + 5.5% per transaction. This means, if on average you sell accounts for $15.00, RevEcom would charge you $1.5925 ($15.00 * 0.0395 + $1.00) per transaction where 2CheckOut.com would have charged you $1.275 ($15.00 * 0.055 + $0.45) per transaction. But offcourse, the higher you go per transaction, the cheaper RevEcom is compared to 2CheckOut.com.
avara 03-01-2002, 07:24 PM We decided to go for 2Checkout because of the custom headers and footers, as well as the fact that transactions under $30 are actually cheaper with them.
So far, we've been very happy with the service we've received, and I would definitely recommend them. :)
adland 03-02-2002, 04:00 AM I believe "PaySystems.com, Inc" will seem more professional than "2Checkout.com" when the customer sees it on their statement. I'm willing to forego the custom headers because of that.
21inchguns 03-02-2002, 08:00 AM I'd give my vote to 2checkout.........
I did try to deal with Revecom in the past, and their support/sales staff were really terrible, well the person I dealt with anyway...........

AmI understanding you correctly here...
You think that seeing "PaySystems.com, Inc" would be different than seeing "2checkout.com" on a credit card statement?
Did you consider that by the time they see either on their credit card statement they've already bought the item and are using it?

avara 03-02-2002, 04:26 PM As TomD said, why would you think that "2Checkout.com Inc" would be less professional than "PaySystems Inc"?
And regarding the custom headers and footers, I think customers are much more likely to run away from the ugly payment screen -- which can not be modified -- that RevEcom provides.
The Prohacker 03-02-2002, 04:31 PM The thing I liked was 2checkout's interface.. Its fast and simple, compared to RevEcom's bulky slow frontend...
I don't care what name goes on the bill, if I was worried, I'd get a merchent account and have my own name on there...

Yes. I also considered that they may not have realized at the time of purchase that they left the site and made the purchase through 2checkout. Consequently, I think they would puzzle more over "2checkout" than "paysystems" because, simply, "paysystems" sounds bigger.
Plus, after a month, the alternative site says that charges appear as "YOUR COMPANY NAME by PaySystems.com". I find that appealing.
I have nothing against 2Checkout. I have heard nothing but good things about it. I was simply expressing my opinion.
I realize "2checkout" is supposed to sound consumer friendly like "PayPal". I also know from experience that many people, especially those without auction experience, do not feel comfortable with PayPal for one or two reasons:
1) It does not sound like a serious company
2) They have not heard of them
I look at Revecom and 2Checkout as alternatives to PayPal, so this is something I would consider -- all things being equal. However, I'll admit that 2Checkout's light footprint and customizable headers/footers probably make this concern a wash.
TimPD 03-03-2002, 02:05 AM Hello,
We don't use neither of them. We looked into them and noticed there rates are quite high and also they don't offer custom pages. We're currently with a 2.29% rate. Which is nice. You can setup the pages how you want them as long as the info is included that is needed and it is quite nice support rocks phone support it rocks.

When they order, they'll have to check a box saying that they are aware that their card will be charged by "2Checkout.com Inc". Furthermore, they'll get an email with this information after they sign up as well, so I don't think they'll be confused. :)
allmark 03-03-2002, 02:15 PM We used revecom for 1 week, and as fast as we could moved to 2checkout.
One reason they charge $1 for every fraud order you get, Even when you can see from the get go it's fraud, they let it go past their 1st line of checking just so they can charge you the Buck.
I had two of these in the second day using them, One was a ip that ended up in Russia and the account and cc info was from Dallas, the other Ip went to Singapore and account/cc info was from Florida.
I never got a response from my e-mail's concerning this matter, So we shut down and moved on.

So just because the IP was from another country you knew they were fraud? Would that be in any country or countries like Russia and Singapore? The only reason I'm asking this is because I have bank accounts in USA (with Visa cards), so does my fiancé, but we're both currently in Europe. So if we ordered an account from you, you would not accept it?

No matter what their website claims, they do not offer this (they used to). I've heard nothing to indicate they've started offering it again. Email them for confirmation about this.
avara 03-03-2002, 04:01 PM RevEcom really need to update their web site.
Gyrbo 03-03-2002, 04:41 PM I guess I'm gonna go with 2checkout. One thing that's bothering me is that you can only check for payment via a webbased interface(?) and e-mail. That wau I can't really automate anything. (I'm not only going to use it for hosting, also memberships to other stuff)
TimPD 03-03-2002, 05:50 PM I can't post the link here. It will get taken out again.
Chicken 03-03-2002, 08:01 PM http://www.onlinedatacorp.com/vip.asp is the one Tim is talking about. you can post this, but you cannot post your site URL with the affiliate link to this site.
