I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this news story in the U.S. (how could you not?) but there are no words that can explain what happened to this little girl. We live in a very sad World where we have to worry about protecting our children from evil such as this. I pray that nobody else has to endure the pain that the van Dam's have most definitely already felt.

That is so messed up... that little girl looked a lot like my sister did when she was that age so I am especially sad over this. So much bad news lately.. sucks. :(

This story is very sad. I live in San Diego and she was found very close to where I live. About 10 mins away. My gf lives in the same area as the family and when you drive close to the Van Dams community there are all these signs everywhere for the missing girl. They are even posted on freeway overpasses. Its terrible that they found her but maybe they can get some closure. Im glad they arrested the neighbor. Hes clearly the suspect.

Everytime I watch the news I always get reminded of this. They tell in this country so many people died because of that... just a number, nothing else BUT when it's just one person they make a whole story on that. Normally 10 times as long as for the other hundred who died in some war during the last 24h.
I don't want to say it's not good to bring that story to people but I tend to think it's just viewer quota hunting. People are just so easily being manipulated by individual fate!

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this tragic time. She is now at peace and with the lord.

I forget who said this first, but I remember hearing this too. It was said in relation to genocides.

(BTW: I do know that Marilyn Manson quoted it in one of his songs.)

Being a father I've been following this in the papers. Soon as I saw the story I knew that poor little girl would end up found in some ditch or something, but you always hope for the best when expecting the worst. Sad to see it printed out in black and white though...

Hope the guy who did it gets fried.... slowly.

I personally followed this from day 1.

I watched there parents talk on Larry King Live.

then I had hope they'd find her once her broadcast got on Americas Most Wanted.

When they arrested David Westerfield I knew she was dead .

And the unfortunate was confirmed a few days after this.

David Westerfield should and WILL get the DEATH PENALTY!
