I have been working with LANS and WANS for some time, using netware and windows nt/2000, but am quite new with cobalt raq4. I have two raq4 one I sent off and one I kept. I have one of the cobalt hosted and it doing quite well. I have been quite pleased, but I did nothing for the setup other and put on web pages. I did go through the Docs and they are quite good. However I want something close so when I blow it up and can rebuild it. I am doing some programing and it will from time to time take the system down and out. So the secound box will be at my home. Any help on a good place to start to make sure I am doing things correctly would be helpful. My current plan is to use DSL from SBC and a linksys router since I have two already.
P.S I did order 5 static IP address. Thanks!

I would start by search on the site for any questions that you want answered.
Then if you need further help.... ask.

I'm not sure you'll find the RaQs overly easy to break and fix. A more standard linux install would probably be easier as the RaQs have an interesting file system. The complaint I've heard is that although the RaQs are more or less a customized RH build, nothing is 'where it is supposed to be', heh. If you aren't all that familiar with things 'supposed to being' in certain places (liek I was), then I'm not sure that matters.

I have SBC DSL and a linksys router (but no static IPs), however I get the feeling you could tell me more about how to set it up than I could tell you. I have a spare RaQ3 here that I've never quite figured out what to do with. I've entertained trying to load it up, but (repeating) haven't figured out why I'd do it, heh, other than to waste time and play with it.

Thanks for the reply! I work for a company that has 30000 people world wide, however the site I work at has about 70 people. I learned a long time ago I will never know it all, and the more I learn the less I know. But I do enjoy working with new things and have and interest in web programing. The web has been a great outlet for my love and hobbie of flyfishing so when I am done with this project I will put it on a large server and share the things I have learned in the sport. I do have a question and that is what has been the best way to back up a raq4. I know the software comes with the system but is way best? Also I have read comments about shoping carts someone want to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Is it a 4r? If so it has dual drives (either 20 or 30 GB) for RAID1 mirroring, but otherwise RaQ backups have been discussed quite a few times. A search might produce a mixture of these threads and general tech threads (anything with the words, "be sure to backup this file..." or backing up anything), but... (shopping carts as well, both here and in the hosting software and control panels forum).
