Hi all. I am in the middle of transfering 2 of my domains from Stargate Inc. to DirectNIC. The problem is that according to DirectNIC the listed Admin contact for the domains is someone else. They gave me the email addresses that are listed for the domain and it isn't mine.
When I used the Stargate control panel to see what is currently listed as the Admin contact, Stargate lists my correct email address.
I will contact both registrars and try to straighten this out, but it really confuses me as to how this happened in the first place.
Is there any reason why DirectNIC would find a different email address (other than my own)
Thanks,
Ria

Would you want to post the domains so they can be checked out? It is possible that stargate's internal db for your domain shows one thing, while the whois used by directnic shos another (somewhat of a wild guess without being able to see if anything looks odd).
the two domains in questions are:
darsis.com
thirteenthhour.com
It's so strange. I wouldn't know how to check to see what DirectNIC is seeing. I try WhoIS but hey I'm a complete beginner when it comes to domains compared to others. I basically know how to register them and know how to change their settings to get the domains to work. That's about it. Everything else is like discrete math to me. I hated discrete math in college. :D

The problem seems to be that Stargate's whois server is very screwed up. It doesn't list any contact info for the domains...
Domain Name: DARSIS.COM
Registrar: STARGATE COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.stargateinc.com
Referral URL: http://www.stargateinc.com
Name Server: NS2.CO.GEARHOST.NET
Name Server: NS1.CO.GEARHOST.NET

Domain Name: THIRTEENTHHOUR.COM
Registrar: STARGATE COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.stargateinc.com
Referral URL: http://www.stargateinc.com
Name Server: NS2.CO.GEARHOST.NET
Name Server: NS1.CO.GEARHOST.NET

Grrrr!
Thanks for the info. I saw that info and I just thought it was me. I contacted DirectNIC and told them about this. I think my support ticket is being referred to someone else. Hopefully I can figure something out.
And to top it all off...there's a new post about Gearhost (the host I'm currently with). :bawling:

Good luck. I recently was considering Stargate and Namecheap for my domains. I'm glad I chose Namecheap after seeing the continuing problems with Stargate. I transfered 15 domains from DirectNic to Namecheap without incident. I loved DirectNIC but I needed to save some money, and so far NameCheap hasn't given me any problems.
Thanks, I think I need all the luck I can get. Stargate has definitely been having problems. Thanks again for all your help!

Actually the info posted by greggish isn't complete, they do list more than that (or at least they do list more than that *now*). I've PM'ed you the info Ria as I wasn't sure you'd appreciate the info being posted (though it is available via a whois so...)
If the info listed in the admin isn't correct, then you need to contact stargate and see if it can be fixed. If it is correct then something is mucky, but I'm not sure where.
Hi Chicken! I got your PM and the info listed is correct. Thanks for checking for me!
I wonder how DirectNIC got the wrong information?
