![]() | View Full Version : Welcome baaaaaaaaack WHT! BC 12-13-2000, 06:37 AM Yeeeeeeeeee-ha! Great to be back online.... Greg 12-13-2000, 11:44 AM "Back in 30 minutes"!!!!!!!!!! More like 30 hours! You guys forget how to run a server yesterday? ;) kc7 12-13-2000, 11:55 AM Whew!.....withdrawl symptoms are starting to subside. As you can see, first post, but I've been lurking for over a year. kc7 eva2000 12-13-2000, 11:56 AM well i had to come in from http://216.74.75.101/ instead... what happened ? cisites 12-13-2000, 12:04 PM That was terrible. I had at least one browser open all day refreshing every 15 minutes. Jaiem 12-13-2000, 12:11 PM As Clinton would say, "That all depends how you define 'minutes'." :) Racin' Rob 12-13-2000, 12:12 PM Ah, that's better. MSW 12-13-2000, 12:42 PM Well, welcome back! A day without WHT is like a day without coffee! SysAdmin 12-13-2000, 12:48 PM My fault as usual. The transfer should have went without a glitch, however I forgot to reenable the board, I was going to the new site so I thought it up. Duster 12-13-2000, 01:00 PM I thought maybe your watch had stopped. That's the longest 30 minutes I've waited in a long time. eva2000 12-13-2000, 01:17 PM now i know how my forum members felt recently when i said be back in 20 mins and it turned into a 2 1/2 day ordeal  AppleCider 12-13-2000, 01:41 PM Glad you're back! Although I don't post often, I do read these boards everyday and I was having serious withdrawal symptoms! Martie 12-13-2000, 01:54 PM :look: Welcome Back Y'ALL :look: webfors 12-13-2000, 03:06 PM Never realized how much this forum has become part of my daily routine. So you transferred hosts?? What happened? BC 12-13-2000, 05:36 PM Alright...... Matt and I might as well do it here. We'd like to thank all hosts who offered space for WHT - we were absolutely staggered by the response and the generosity of all. That said, we finally did make a decision this week (and it wasn't me who made the final decision, so don't come after me :D) - and WHT is now sitting on a new server thanks to Daniel from UltraSpeed USA. You can annoy Daniel for all the specs of the machine, but suffice to say it will serve WHT in the medium-to-long term. Now excuse me while I go after Matt with a broomstick for being such a nong :D .... Chicken 12-13-2000, 09:10 PM Yesssss... Matt ICQ'd me asking if it was quicker, and I had to mention that errrrr... it was still down :) We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion forum... JTY 12-13-2000, 09:16 PM I'm happy now. :) Jag 12-13-2000, 09:29 PM Even though I don't post near as frequently as I used to I still hit the forums everyday several times a day. I was going through some serious withdrawls when WHT disappeared on me. Now I can come back off the medication :) etLux 12-14-2000, 02:34 AM Originally posted by BC Now excuse me while I go after Matt with a broomstick... Really, Chicken. I thought you were more discrete about your personal propensities in such matters. Welcome back! BC 12-14-2000, 03:02 AM Why, I'm so sorry Salty. Would you like me to go after you with a whipper-snipper instead, now that you insist on it? ;) etLux 12-14-2000, 04:49 AM I'm not sure what a "whipper-snipper" is, but [puts on athletic cup, just in case] I did want to mention I'll be out of the office for the next seven years... Lawrence 12-14-2000, 06:45 AM Don't tell me we only have whipper-snippers in Australia? It's a thing that snips lawn in a whipping fashion. Racin' Rob 12-14-2000, 09:02 AM Originally posted by Lawrence Don't tell me we only have whipper-snippers in Australia? It's a thing that snips lawn in a whipping fashion. No, it's just those dang goat farmers from Moldavia that don't have 'em. The goats prolly ate 'em. etLux 12-14-2000, 09:06 AM Arrogant sniffing sound heard in background... We in Moldavia reject the corrupt and ruinous technology of the Western Imperialists who destroy our ecologies and pervert the natural order of the world and its creatures. Besides, what they hey, we got goats to do that... Racin' Rob 12-14-2000, 09:15 AM Originally posted by etLux Arrogant sniffing sound heard in background... Sorry, no arrogance intended, just my sinus allergies acting up again. Must be allergic to goats. :) Chicken 12-14-2000, 10:07 AM Originally posted by etLux Originally posted by BC Now excuse me while I go after Matt with a broomstick... Really, Chicken. I thought you were more discrete about your personal propensities in such matters. I'm going to ask BC if he'll sign every post: BC NOT CHICKEN -and change his user name to the same, just for you :) etLux 12-14-2000, 10:18 AM Oh geez... sorry about that, BC. I'll get it right yet. Just gimme a little time... Chicken 12-14-2000, 10:40 AM Hee, I'm just worried that you'll start confusing everybody :) etLux 12-14-2000, 10:50 AM Originally posted by Chicken Hee, I'm just worried that you'll start confusing everybody :) This -- and let me state this as clearly and succinctly as I possibly can -- would never be either the intention nor the implication of any action in which I participated or any inaction in which my lack of participation might be implied to mean consent on my part or even tacit approval; unless, of course, I were completely unaware of such action or inaction, or, due to unconsciousness, lack of cognition, or other infacility of mentation, became unable to comprehend or absorb the fundamental underlying meaning of such actions or inactions in which I may or may not have been involved, including but not limited to the posting of statements, failing to post statements, posting statements in foreign languages that I may or may not speak, or, likewise, failing to do so. Spider John 12-14-2000, 11:46 AM I spoke to my local Member of Parliament, and he agreed to supply free back bacon, twofours, and jelly donuts to all of you who were as affected by the WHT downtime as I was. To claim your reward, simply go to any donut shop in Canada and yell out, "I NEED A MEDIUM DOUBLE DOUBLE AND A CRULLER BECAUSE WEBHOSTING TALK WAS DOWN AND I'M HAVING WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS AND I'LL SHARE WITH ANY POLICE OFFICERS, EH?" teck 12-14-2000, 05:42 PM why was it moved again? i think i missed the whole thread about this (if therew as one) etLux 12-14-2000, 05:45 PM Originally posted by BC Now excuse me while I go after Matt with a broomstick... BC was bad again, and was chasing Matt around with sticks. The host got mad and told them to go play somewhere else... BC 12-14-2000, 05:56 PM Teck, This thread has been in the same forum for a while... Wasn't moved as far as I'm aware (unless Matt(s)/Chicken/Kunal sneakily moved it to and fro behind my back :D) Chicken 12-14-2000, 10:42 PM Me thinks he meant the forum. *TONK* Short story really, our last host (hostmatters.com) was being overly generous in allowing a sucking account to exist, and really this puppy needed a server. Matt, whose become homeless due to the costs of running this forum, has been looking for quite some time for a more permanent home for the beast (his shopping cart wouldn't do). We appealed to the members at large and received many gernerous offers (it really was, in all honesty, quite breathtaking), and here we are. Matt has been able to move into a halfway house, and has stopped eating cat food. It was really becoming too tiresome to shave him, and we're all glad things are looking up. He still cleans himself in ways I won't go into, but we're all chipping in for therapy (x-mas surprise gift - shhhhh). If you have any more questions, you probably will want to ask one of the other Moderators. BC 12-14-2000, 10:45 PM Don't ask me.... :D etLux 12-14-2000, 10:57 PM Originally posted by Chicken Matt has been able to move into a halfway house, and has stopped eating cat food. I am extremely upset to hear of this unfortunate turn of events. I do hope this will not mean a reduction in the quality of this forum, though the absence of the odor of cat-food breath is refreshing. Oh, that is what the smell was -- I was blaming it on the goats. teck 12-15-2000, 04:47 AM so like why was it moved? this thread doesnt say much about the details and stuff. last time i remember, annette was hosting it. BC 12-15-2000, 05:51 AM That's probably because we haven't really said that much about it ;) There were a number of reasons WHT chose to make a move, some of which we prefer to keep private, but what I *can* say is (without pre-empting anything MattF might say) : 1. We leave Hosting Matters + Annette/Stephanie on very good terms - it had absolutely nothing to do with her service, support or anything like that. 2. Does a maxed credit card bill sound familiar? :D (and no it wasn't mine) 3. Matt decided to see if anyone was generous to offer free hosting in exchange for links, banners, etc. - more than a dozen hosts replied, quite generously offering everything at our service. To say we were astounded is a bit of an understatement. Hope this gives you a bit more of an idea and clears up any confusion. Any further questions? Drop a post here.... etLux 12-15-2000, 12:40 PM I still think that cat-food breath thing had a lot to do with it. kunal 12-17-2000, 07:26 AM Ahem... prrrrrrrr..... meow! |
