View Full Version : Speedy Domain Transfer ?

I want to transfer one of the last few domains that I still have with Network Solutions. It takes them 3-6 weeks to complete transfer requests, after they receive all of the paperwork from myself and from the new registrant.

Can anyone recommend a registrar that can process a transfer request more quickly?

I'd like to move my domain from NetSol to such a registrar, and then initiate the transfer process.

Thanks!

Bob

I would highly, highly recommend enom ( http://www.enom.com ). They have a new electronic transfer service as well, where no paperwork at all is needed. Sign up for an account, and you can probably transfer it over in 3-7 days.

Hope that helps

I also recommend enom, although i dont know how their system works with network solutions.
It took less than a day to transfer a name from register.com to enom.com, but that may be due to the fact that register.com also has automated procedures.

Most transfers I've done from Net Sol to BulkRegister have happened within three days. One time I did 26 domains and they were all done in three days.

Now I'm thinking about switching to OpenSRS so, here we go again... I hope it's as easy.

BTW, even though BulkRegister mentions that they will not process less than 10 domains, I was able to transfer four from Register.com without trouble -- I just ignored their notice.

Domain transfers require a couple of different processes to work in order to be quick.

First, you must be the admin contact of your domain, without any ambiguity, and with the ability to approve the transfer at the soruce registrar. With NetSol, you may be able to do this vie email, a control panel, or a fax depending on the vintage of your domain and whether you have kept all your information up to date.

The receiving registry needs to have a solid process for accepting domain transfers (OpenSRS is very good here), and process them in a timely fashion.

We've seen domain transfers from NetSol takes less than 48 hours, and we've seen them take many weeks and many phone calls from our staff and the customer. You can expect to see both situations from NetSol - you just want to make sure that the receiving registrar does not have ugly systems as well.

Good luck,

I;ve only ever done one transfer in my life, this week in fact.
(register.com to powerpipe.com)

I filled out the forum on powerpipe and printed out the thing to fax in, also paid.

The next day I faxed it at noon. They confirmed reciept 4 hours later and made me click a confirmation.

The next day I got an email from register.com making sure I want to transfer away from them.

The next day I was up with eNom, paying $8.88/year instead of $35/year :D
