Just wondering but, how many servers does WebHostingTalk have, and what's the maximum specifications that they have?

Thanks

I have noticed that webhostingtalk.com is superior in speed to any other forum on the net.

There are hundreds of users on all the time and I have used the site from Hong Kong and Australia and have had immediate speeds on 1mbit cable and fast ADSL.

1. Server never crashes
2. Server is always fast and never slow
3. Never gets hacked or DDoS

are they running load balanced dual xeon's with 4gb ram?

love to know this information and not sure who to ask or where to look.

Thanks

I believe they are running 4 Dual Xeon servers in the INET cluster which are heavily load balanced. Believe me, I have seen WHT slow quite a few times ;) But, it was still useable.

I remeber when i first joined around 6 months ago, the forum was quite "jumpy" for a few days.

It has been fine ever since though.

zeonfx correct me if i am wrong but wht is still hosted on ev1 correct? I would think that'd explain how the site is always rapid loading. (I have myself had servers on ev1 in the past and was always a good quality product speed/uptime wise).

Nope, they are at rackspace
Heres some info I dug up

Our advanced hosting solution at RackSpace consists of a firewall in front of a Cisco load balancer unit. We have 5 web servers which are Dell PowerEdge 2650 boxes with 2 GIG of ram, dual 2.0 GHz Intel Xeon processors and 3 15000 RPM SCSI drives running Raid 5. Each site hosted connects to one of 3 seperate database servers over a backup network. Each database server is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 server with 4 GB ram, dual 2.0 GHz Intel Xeon processors with 3 15000 RPM SCSI drives running in a raid 5 configuration.

There was a thread about it somewhere here but it was deleted or something.

1. Server never crashes
2. Server is always fast and never slow
3. Never gets hacked or DDoS

Hang around ... these things even happen to WHT ;)

If you scroll to the bottom left you will see that it is hosted with rackspace.com

ah ty mamboguy I actually had never even noticed that, then again I rarely scroll to the bottom of the screen. Always thought it was on ev1 actually. Was it ever on ev1 initially? For some reason I think awhile ago it was being hosted by ev1.

I think I've seen WHT down once and slow speeds like 10 time since I've been around.

I've never seen WHT hacked before...

Haha, the WHT server has crashed (usually MySQL failures), it has been DDoS attacked and as a result has been slow. I don't think the server has ever been hacked but I could be wrong on that one too ;)

They use Rackspace for their provider and you can expect to pay a lot for the service they get from RackSpace.

wht was not hacked, but other sites hosted on the inet servers were exploited such as hotscripts.
