I just wondered this as I was checking the hotmail account.
Microsoft being quite stuck up- do you think they must use NT based servers for Hotmail?
I'm unsure cos they seem to be too reliable :D
Anyone know the score?
i doubt microsoft uses unix machines for a host

They used to, if they still don't now, run on FreeBSD. ;)

Regardless of what it runs on, Hotmail is just crap. Over half my e-mails to Hotmail users never go through.

90% of the emails that I receive daily is spam, and on average I get about 50-60 emails a day. That's even with a block user of list of 250 email addresses.... hotmail won't let me block anymore.

I do get a lot of spam, though I use the domain blocking thing at hotmail you get now. You can choose to block @usualspam.com

hotmail initially used bsd... and microsoft attempted to move it to NT... it suceeded in moving some... but hasnt moved all the servers to NT...
