View Full Version : Host suggestions??
Robert00 02-28-2002, 02:30 AM Hello Everyone,
I'm sure this question gets asked a lot, but....I may need to change hosts.
Who is good these days?
Here are my basic needs:
100MB size site
6 Gig bandwith allowance per month (No, I don't use that much, but you never know...)
CGI capabilities
Excellent customer service (This means, "responsiveness," essentially. That the host cares you are with them.)
Thanks for the suggestions!
Robert00 02-28-2002, 02:37 AM Forgot one thing....I would probably prefer a U.S. based host.
Thanks.
If you put your post in the Requests area, you're bound to get a good response.
Lats...
Robert00 02-28-2002, 04:44 AM Thank you much.

Whereas, if you leave it here you may get some response from customers happy with their host ;) So, I am going to recommend www.infodoma.com . I have one site with them and have been pretty impressed with the support and service so far. I don't really like writing these kind of posts because they always come across as obsequieous and brown nosing, but I can recommend these highly.
Annette 02-28-2002, 03:01 PM It's always interesting to read something like this - especailly considering that I am not aware of anyone who has any issues outstanding, and certainly not for four months. Our service is, as it always has been, something to which we point as a hallmark of our company. I'm fairly sure I know who you are, and I think it's extremely unfortunate that you posted something like this here - especially if, if the issue is as I suspect, something that you mentioned the other day but something which we do not remember you ever raising - and especially since responses to issues raised over the past several days have been within minutes. Someone who knows our typical response times might have simply dropped us another note at the time instead of holding on to some perceived wrong for months, but we can't control that. Good luck to you elsewhere.
brently27 02-28-2002, 03:51 PM Can you smell it?

mindboggle 02-28-2002, 04:40 PM All of the posts that I have read by "Annette" are rude, annoying and uncalled for. I am personally shocked that the members of the forum constantly criticize Sean from Burstnet for his rude posts, but not Annette's from Hosting Matters.
BurstNET 02-28-2002, 05:44 PM Hey!!! that's not right...I am behaving this month ;-)

Annette 02-28-2002, 05:47 PM "Robert", there is nothing we can say that hasn't been said. Your site is up and operational. I worked personally on getting the things done that needed to be done to make everything work for the site when it was moved. We - or you - might have thought you had rather specialized needs, but in the end, you didn't - yours was simply a site with a lot of CGI, which I made work on the new systems and which is working right now. If you have an outstanding issue, then you should address it via the ticket you already have open, which has already had another response today. We do not provide support via these forums, as that is not why they are here. We also do not have our personal mailboxes set up as personal support mailboxes. That is why we provide a variety of contact addresses, the ticketing system, and our forum.
We do care - immensely - about our clients, and you know that, since we worked with you initially on getting your site to our service in the first place. I think you're angry because you didn't want to change servers and that your site was migrated this week. I'm sorry about that. But the site has been migrated. It is working. You pointed out the issues, we fixed them, and you had to do nothing else at all - just like other people we've been moving for the past three months. In any move of a site, there are going to be things that have to be addressed. In your case, it was scripting. In someone else's, it might be a connection to a database. All of these are because of differences between the systems, and they can all be addressed.
Having said all that, you are welcome to contact me. I haven't read my own mailbox in about three weeks because we've been working 20-ish hours a day moving sites between servers and getting people squared away. However, I will look to my mailbox for anything you care to send. And since this forum tends to be what it is and because there will be posts like mindboggle's no matter what is said - even if whatever is said is said without rancor and without rudeness - this is the last post I'm making to this thread. It's up to you what you ask the mods to do with it. I'm hoping that you will work with us on whatever else you think is outstanding. That is also your choice to make.
