View Full Version : Any Cobalt for Dedicated/Co LO in Australia
Choppy 02-28-2002, 12:16 AM Im looking for a place i can buy a dedicated /Managed or even somewere to co lo my server in Australia...
Does anyone have some information any data centres in Australia, i would rather in Sydney so i could actually go in there and fix things if there is a problem of any sort!
I know in Australia why are pretty limited in bandwidth and DATAcentre all together or if its not that its our PRICES are so expensive!
I have found some companys in Australia that do have dedicated RAQS but i think these guys get them from overseas anyway!
Just before i get replies about international datacentres.... Im looking for some in AUSTRALIA, Sydney ( Would be nice ) Anyone using them or seen some offering cobalts at all? Drop me a line here!
Thank you

Howdy,
I would really advise not hosting in Brisbane, Sydney has much better support facilitys and internet peering, I would recommend talking to Sam from www.ultraserve.com.au he uses the Optus Sydney data centre and have found it much more reliable then when my website was in the Brisbane Davnet centre and havnt experience anywhere near the amount of problems or downtime that I experience when my website was on davnet. Optus has the best peering to all networks I have seen with AU host as my site loads fast and I get good speed off all providors and the pings are awsome!
Cheers
Paul
dhlsg 03-02-2002, 07:45 AM Do you have any info on http://www.dedicatedservers.com.au
Great pings and prices.
Looking at getting a raq from them - I'm in NZ, any help would be appreciated.
Steve
Ultraserve could you do you a much better deal in the Optus Datacente in Sydney which has even better pings then DavNet :-)
dhlsg 03-02-2002, 07:51 AM Thanks,
Just pinged ultraserve.com.au 69ms wowwwwwwwww
You were right, their site seems to be being updated though, just like dedicatedservers.com.au - what's going on in Oz this weekend?

CHOGM in Brisbane.
The Fringe Festival in Adelaide.
The Grand Prix in Melbourne.
The Gay Mardis Gras in Sydney.
It's all on. :)
We're with dedicatedservers.com.au, and I doubt you'll find a more attractive offer in Australia right now. Drop me a line if you're interested in some more info.
Cheers

Ultra Serve Internet
What kinda of pings are you getting to dedicatedservers?? compared to the sweet 69ms (kinky) pings to ultraserve?
dhlsg 03-02-2002, 03:48 PM Hi,
dedicatedservers.com.au is giving me pings of 89-95ms
Not too bad.
Steve.
I looked at ultraservers site but it appeared to be only one page with contact details - It was late though, maybe I'll check them out again today. :)
You will not find a better deal then Ultraserve, theres sites near completition but drop him a line and he can send you all the prices you need by email, Ive been hosting with them for a while now and its the best hosting by far for pure speed and uptime, Ive used both DavNet & OptusNet Syd and i can honestly say I wouldnt even think twice about using Optus, 10 times better peering and speed then Davnet could ever think about offering!
I have never seen anyone dedicated to offering the best deals and customer service like Sam (Ultraserve), I can honesty say you can contact him 24/7 if you need too, I do site design and construction and dont need the worry of running a server and use his Virtual Hosting to host clients websites and ever since I made the move from DavNet, they have had better uptime, incredibly fast email access and sweet sweet pings!!! :stickout
Even my clients notice the difference, and were talking about people who barely handle email :-)
If you have any Q's about my experiences with hosting with both DavNet & Optus let me know, but I would certainly pick optus anyday :P
dhlsg 03-02-2002, 06:20 PM Thanks Losi,
You should be on ultraservers pay roll :)
Genuinely, thanks for your info, I have found it a valuable resource - I would still like to see what's on offer though - How can I order a server from a site with no pages yet? (Still feeling slightly  )
If ultraservers staff are out there, please PM me the details,
Cheers
Steve
