Hi,

We are looking at moving away from prohosting (due to very poor speed on our vBulletin) to Myacen's Ecommerce plan. Everything I have read about them so far has been very positive. The only thing is a static IP isn't part of the package, its an extra. Is there any reason that not having a static IP would be a problem?

If anyone here could comment on them to help me decide one way or another that would be cool

not having a static ip will not be a problem at all. It is only useful if you want anonymous ftp or to use ssl

I think that its a misunderstanding, because I'm sure that they provide with Static IP, probably what they charge an extra fee its for a Dedicated IP.

You are right, thats what I meant to say :)

Probably they will give you a dedicated ip if you can justify the use.

I find ProHosting fine. Also MyAcen has a prob in ProFTPd so u can't sometimes uplaod ASCII files (select ASCII and they'll still go up in binary) and they ar epowered by RackShack.

Really? At times on ProHosting, our vBulletin takes a couple of minutes to load, if it loads at all. We have contacted them and they said they will try and install Zend, but in the past it has crashed their servers :(

Beside's the FTP part, I knew Myacen were located in RackShack's NOC, but is there anything wrong with this?

may i ask why you need an ip if you are just hosting a board?

This is not a problem with ProFTPD, it's a problem with certain ftp clients. Many hosts use ProFTPD, if this were a bug, none of us would use it.

We're not just hosting the board, but... I had seen dedicated IP's as part of a package on other hosts and just wanted to know if there were any drawbacks to not having one :)
