Jallard Sillysoft 02-24-2005, 04:57 PM Yes I have qmail on the server and when I use Thunderbird I get an error stating I cannot relay, something about Im not on the list of accepted clients, something like that. But that was with imap. I switched to Outlook and everything works just fine. Silly lachtan 02-24-2005, 05:03 PM I`am using Qmail and thunderbird and everything is fine. Maybe you need to use the complete email address as a loign and you arent? This is just a guess. Let us know what you figure out. jallard 02-24-2005, 05:41 PM Originally posted by Kind-Bud You may want to make sure your setting are exactly the same. Eveything is correct. So, I guess it's a mystery!!! I have also been told that Microsoft Outlook and Symantec have problems working with one another--that being in the form of bugs (and no known fixes)??? However, neither Symantec or Microsoft will acknowlege it. Nor will I pay for their tech support to find out. Ankheg 02-24-2005, 06:22 PM We run netqmail (patched version of regular qmail) with the smtp-auth patch, and have no problems with people sending with anything. Is it just a qmail installaton, or is it qmail+vpopmail? I'm not sure which software it affects, but there is (or at least used to be) a known issue where you need to use "%" instead of "@" in the authentication address with certain mail clients. I know Opera had the problem years back, but I'm not really sure what else does these days. Might be worth looking into. jallard 02-24-2005, 07:03 PM Originally posted by Ankheg We run netqmail (patched version of regular qmail) with the smtp-auth patch, and have no problems with people sending with anything. This is what my network engineer is finding out: Joe, the message I got with Tenth Tree is. Connected to the Server, Server fails to respond. So it's connecting successfully to the server with Server Authentication enabled but the server refuses to response to the request. So, what does that mean? jallard 02-24-2005, 07:35 PM Originally posted by jallard This is what my network engineer is finding out: So, what does that mean? Trust me, it isn't me or any of my clients either. EVERYTHING on our side is correct. I have a network engineer working on it an he is the best. He keeps telling me that it is the server on the other end--meaning that I am a web hosting reseller on someone else's shared server. But, he tells me that his server is working fine?????? |
