View Full Version : Locked out of my profile?

Ok...this is simply ridiculous...I'm locked out of my profile, I can't even LOG OUT..ROTFLMAO.

I imagine it's because I accidently violated the sig rules I think...but jeesh, at least a PM to tell me would be a NICE gesture instead of gestapo tactics.

Sig rules:

Signatures:

Must be setup in your profile, and not manually added to your messages. <==OK..didn't do that

May not contain any pricing, plan, sales, server, network, etc. details. <== Was aware of that...didn't do that

May contain a maximum of two smilies. Or one animated smiley. <-- don't use em..

May include two clickable links. <== this is probably the violation, I missed this part last time I read the rules like a YEAR ago..lol.

May include two colors. <== only black and red used

Maximum font size cannot be larger than normal. <== not large at all.

Must be kept to a maximum of four lines (at 1024 resolution). <== was aware of this one...nope 4 lines was it.

May not contain links to other threads or posts. <== didn't

Your signature is your signature. It is not for sale or rent. <== as if anyone would want ot rent mine..LOL

Any signature that is offensive or insulting to either WHT, its members, or its staff, are prohibited. <== while tempting in situations like this, know better..LOL

We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature at any time, for any reason. <== Well, WAS NEVER ASKED or I WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY.

I think this may have started a few days ago. I noticed that one of my links was not linked..I figured it was just an oversite by me..so I relinked it. Now, looking back, I'm assuming it was the third link, and undone by the mods. So I guess they ASSumed that I purposely was flaunting their authority and rules and locked me out of my profile...without so much as a "here's why".

While I'm fully understandable of enforcing the rules and apologize for my oversight on this one, I think it's rather RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL to not even send a PM when making such a drastic change to someones account.

And yes, I've opened at helpdesk ticket about it.

If the mods had simply PM'd me and asked me to change my sig, I would have had NO problem with it.....

The mods shouldn't have to explain themselves when the rules are in plain site. Why should they send you a PM when the rules clearly state only two links in your signature?

Do you know EVERY rule on WHT by heart? Probably not. I'm not asking them to explain themselves, I'm simply asking for the courtesy of letting me know if I've violated a rule.

Would you say the same thing if you were pulled over by a cop and told your license was suspended. But no one ever told you or even notified you that you violated some law, just took action? While this is an exagerated example, the point is the same.

I have not found any new tickets connected to your user name. Please contact the Community Leaders regarding your account. You have recieved an explanation via the warning system. If you would like further details please use the helpdesk.

Are you sure you actually submitted the tickets? Once you've filled out the ticket and hit submit, you are brought to a page where you actually have to hit submit again.

Saw it that time...sigh. talk about making things difficult..lol, maybe if it looked like a regular button and not just highlighted text I would have saw it the first two time..:)

Well, got a response, but when I go back in, don't see it. Sigh.

Anyway, I figured out the problem. Either my email is wrong in my profile (which I cannot check on at the moment), or the mod who was sending me emails decided to use sean@capitalwebhost.net instead of admin@ (which is what it SHOULD be).

So ALL emails from him/her fell into the spamtrap and ended up at /dev/null as spam. I only caught the LAST one in a temp spam mailbox because I rerouted my catchall to another mailbox I was using for testing a script.

PM would have been better choice I think.

Not sure what the deal with the helpdesk system is, see a ticket I opened way back april 2004, but nothing else. Says I'm logging in as "admin@capitalwebhost.net", but ticket came to different address. sigh. This is so friggin' PITA.

i just want to say that i think its up to each individual member to keep their profile data up-to-date. We cant do that for you. PM notification is the default when it comes to warning points.... email notification has to be checked... and after that, you get both.

You've been warned 4 times ArtieFishill about your signature and its clickable links.. only 2 are permitted. Perhaps you should have edited your signature back in November, 2004 when it was first requested....?

i strongly urge you to Read the Rules!! (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/rules.php)

Not to be rude or argumentative, if PM is the default, why do I not show any PM's on this?

Last mod PM I got was 08-02-2004 over an off the cuff comment that I made in a thread (not earthshaking, but definitely uncalled for).

I agree, reading the rules in important, but how often do you go back and read the rules of forums you've been a member of for years?

But don't tell me PM's are the default and then not PM me.

I'm not denying I broke the rules..even if it was out of not checking them thoroughly..that's 100% my fault. But don't ASSUME that someone who's been a member here for years, has 1200+ posts and daily visitor is purposely IGNORING you....

i'm probably mistaken, email may be the default and PM is an option. Either way, you are notified when warnings are issued.

And, since you've been a member here for a few years and have 1200+ posts, you should know that the rules change at times and its a good thing to keep abreast of them.

Anyway, i've had my say. Sorry if i come off all hard-core and nazi-like, but geez, just read the rules, stay informed. Thats all.

Well, now that this is all straighted out...my email is updated, and my sig meets the forum rules...I think we can put this behind us and call it a big comedy of errors. :)

Should no longer miss getting any emails.

I don't think I've read them in at least two years. :D

Maybe it should be the other way, but a lot of people never check their PMs and have notification off. So, keep your system email address up to date!
