Hi, I really need an answer to this question asap. I would like to know is anybody is successfully running Ensim LS 3.0 under Redhat Linux 7.2. I know LS 3.0 wasn't developed for 7.2, nor does it officially support it, but neither was Plesk PSA 2.0 and that runs fine under 7.2. I need an urgent answer as I told sailor I might purchase a Plesk key off him and I don't want to keep him waiting for a definate answer. I've allways liked the Ensim interface more, but the 7.2 issue made me lean more towards Plesk.

The difference in the way Plesk installs itself and the way Ensim does it are two different animals. (Well at least the Standard install of Plesk) Basically Plesk only uses limited services of it's own and uses the standard packages for the rest. But Ensim actually runs off of specific Ensim Based RPMs and by trying to use a OS version that is doesn't fully support may break the Ensim install. This is the only downfault with using Ensim in my personal opinion as it limits you to what you can and can not update / upgrade, where with the other CP's most of them you can upgrade most system packages without fear of breaking the Control Panel.

From what I understand Ensim will be coming out with a new version of the Webppliance that does support 7.2 sometime in the near future. I would recommend waiting until then as if you do upgrade with it being supported and it breaks Ensim, then you will be left with doing a back-up and restore.

7.1 is a good distro as long as it is patched correctly, the only reason I can think of to upgrade is if you want ext3 or the 2.4 kernel, which would be replaced by the Ensim kernel version anyways.

I still know people that use 6.2 and have no problems at all. Sorry I couldnt be of further help but I would really say to hold off.

It's helpfull enough :)
I've asked my host about putting 7.1 on the server, as it came with 7.2. That's why I asked my question in the first place. If they don't charge me too much for reinstalling the OS, I might consider having install 7.1 so I can use Ensim. Why ensim over Plesk? I just think the layout of Ensim is cleared, but that's just my opinion :)
