View Full Version : VoIP 1-800 number
illogix 02-23-2005, 10:48 AM Hi,
I have checked a few options like kall8 and vonage. We need a 1-800 number with the following features:
- Talk on a PC with a headset and a microphone.
- Custom recorded welcome message when someone calls our number.
- Voice mail.
- Redirect calls to multiple phone numbers in order and then to voicemail. (Say we have 2 phone numbers, ring the first one 4 times, then the second one 4 times and then forward to voicemail if no one picks up.)
- Redirect faxes to email as pdf.
- Should be available to Montreal, Canada.
Which provider do you recommend ?
illogix 02-23-2005, 12:31 PM Their website doesn't say much about features included. Is this a 800 number ? What about faxes, voicemail, etc ?
illogix 02-23-2005, 04:41 PM Vonage looked interresting but I just called them and to have the line ring at 3 locations, we would need to buy 3 business accounts + 3x the softphone addon (10$ each per month) which would bring the total cost to 165$ per month. At that price we would better get our own pbx system.
Basically, we just need to be able to forward calls to 3 voip terminations (we could then use a softphone client to get the calls on our PCs).
Up to now, the best solution I have found is to buy 3 basic iconnecthere.com voip accounts and get a basic 1-800 number with forwarding and redirect teh calls to the iconnecthere numbers. But we would then need to pay the per minute fees of both iconnecthere and the 1-800 number.
Any other alternatives ?
BTW, thanks to those who replied.
are you US based illogix?
illogix 02-23-2005, 05:29 PM No, we are based in Montreal, Canada. All of our customers are local to us, so a local phone number (in the 514 area could do as well). We are 3 staff members, we would like the line to ring on both of our 3 PCs and that the first one to pick up gets the phone. Those are the major features we need.

Verae 02-25-2005, 12:39 AM ringcentral.com. The PC part will have be worked out but it will do the rest. Do you have a voice modem in the PC?
lwhite 02-25-2005, 01:31 AM Check GotVmail.com. We've used them for a long time and couldn't be happier and I am pretty sure they offer most of the stuff you asked.
illogix 02-25-2005, 10:51 AM Ringcentral is only available to US customers. As for Gotvmail, it looks good however I can't find any VoIP stuff on their website. I have emailed Kall8.com and it looks like it could work if I take the VoIP addon.
Verae 02-25-2005, 10:59 AM Sorry bout that. Spaced it on the "Canada".
xachen 02-25-2005, 07:38 PM Try iax.cc :)
They have an IAX server for VoIP in Chicago and have some pretty good rates for Canada toll free.
FirestormNetworks 02-25-2005, 08:25 PM broadvoice and Asterisk. 1 line, 1 toll free, great rates, and you can control whatever you want it to do... i.e. ring multiple extensions, first one to pick up gets it, etc...
check it out :)
xachen 02-25-2005, 08:28 PM I'm also running that kind of system! :)
So many systems and possibilities are out there!
