This has been my average load on the server, Baring in mind all it has on is a very busy cgi chatroom. At what stage on the percentage should i start worrying :). it has hit 0.08 when it had 60 users logged into to both rooms.

-------------------

Over the past fifteen minutes, the CPU has been lightly loaded.

15 minute CPU load average is 0.02
The processor is currently 26 degrees Celsius.
The system has been running for 1 day, 1 hour, and 48 minutes.

First just a comment. CGI chat rooms are not a good idea. I'd recommend using a java chat room ... although this CGI chat doesn't sound like much of a resource hog.

Is that loadaverage for just the chat room or the entire server ... I mean ... do you have many other processes running? How much is the cpu percentage taken by this chat program?

Its just a chatroom right now. We will resell some space on the server to cover the costs at somepoint.

I cannot stand javachats they are so ugly (=. We've spent over $300 customising our chatroom which was orginally bought for $24.99. I'm not about to give it up.

Good question. Was wondering the same thing. At what point, percentage wise, will I strat to see a significant speed decrease.

A load average of 0.08 is 8% load on a 1 CPU system - so you don't have to worry just yet. I would start getting concerned when you get prolonged periods of 1.00 or above in the 15 minute load average.
