Anyone here uses kall8.com? What you think of them? They have been around for a long time now, and seeing what people like and do not like about them. I will not be getting a 1800 yet, but I will be down the road.

Shin 02-21-2005, 09:26 PM I don't use them now, but when i did i got a LOT of bogus calls. fax machines, people looking for various other companies etc. I can't speak for any other company, so this might be standard, but they recycle the numbers too fast and whoever had it last is still getting calls on your dime. again, i can't say if other companies, they very well may be the same way. harryhood 02-21-2005, 09:34 PM I use Kall8 and am pretty happy. When I first got the 1-888 number I did receive quite a few "wrong numbers", but after a few months they tapered off to nothing. HRBrendan 02-21-2005, 11:48 PM We have used kall8 for a pretty high volume of calls for a long time with very little problems. Their online system is dog slow but that doesnt require much use. -Brendan dialsoft 02-21-2005, 11:53 PM I use Kall8. I forward my calls to my cell phone. Cant complain about the services at all. Gigent 02-22-2005, 03:53 AM I don't know why people don't just call the phone compnay. When we got a (800) number hooked up even with the vanity number it was $6.00 a month and 180 minutes free and then 10 cents a minute extra for calls in the USA and Canada. We have Verizon Business account. The vanity Number was a $24 one time fee. No other companies to play with, no middlemen, directly at the source. What you DON'T see is the places that order TONS of vanity names and (800) numbers and have them but Don't get them hooked up. When you order they simply have it forward to your number. They're paying what I am, your paying a middleman. We can order any number of (800) numbers we want and have them in reserve in our account. varg 02-22-2005, 05:42 AM You can't forward your 800 # to your cell phone can you? Bet you can't set it to accept faxes and email them to you in *.pdf. Wonder if you get free voice mail on that 800#? How about a number that you just use while you're out of the office to accept voice mail? Free caller ID? For $2/mo, you can't really beat that from Kall8. If you use their inbound VoIP termination (like we do), it's 5.4¢/min and that's an excellent price for inbound toll free calling. Gigent 02-22-2005, 05:45 AM Yes, you can have it set to any number you want. You have to understand, they buy hundreds of (800) numbers at a clip for about ^4 a piece but they DONT use them. Then when you signup they just forward it to whatever number you want it to go to. Heck, you could make the same business, call up the phone company , ask how much (800) numbers cost, buy 10 of them, hold 9 and don't use them, then sell them for $8 a month too. When somoene buys one, simply call the Phone company and have any of the (800) numbers you have in reserve forward to that account. The Phone company keeps track of your bill with exact minutes for each individual number. Bill your customers, your now Kall8 Wish people would listen some sometimes... As a business with Verizon, I can setup 10 person conference, forwarding to a cell phone? Heh you can set your home phone to do that, set it to fax? How long have you had a phone? Not to be rude but... do you think that Kall8 can do MORE then a Verizon business line? If it was true, don't you think every business in the world would be using kall8 instead of the phone company? varg 02-22-2005, 05:48 AM Kall8 may be a "middleman" but there are many added services that just can't compare to a telco's offering. Gigent 02-22-2005, 05:50 AM Originally posted by varg Kall8 may be a "middleman" but there are many added services that just can't compare to a telco's offering. Kall8 is NOT a real Telco. VERIZON IS. Hellooo? Verizon ie: UUNET ?? AKA VERIO ? They can offer anything Kall8 does and for cheaper. They are the ones selling it directly to consumers! Are you kidding me man? Obviously this is going no where. I've already pointed out 3 (free voice mail, caller id fax) things you can't do without paying extra to the telco. Plus I never called Kall8 a telco ;) For an initial $2 a month and 5.4¢ a min. it's about the same base price as what you quoted Verizon is charging you. Then if you go over the 180 minutes, it's 10¢ per min. with Verizon versus 5.4¢ a min. with Kall8. Plus, not everyone has Verizon (thank god). Gigent 02-22-2005, 05:56 AM Er call id is FREE, voice mail, I have 4 of them, each customizeable. What I said was do you think, somehow, that Kall8 can offer services at a lower price then a telco with all the features? ScottBannon 02-22-2005, 08:28 AM Here is all the features FREE with Verizon Business Phone line: *69 Automatically dials the telephone number of your last incoming call. We actually use both Verizon and Kall8 for different reasons, so I won't join the actual debate here -- but I wasn't aware of the *69 service being included with our Verizon account and can't for the life of me imagine when a business would ever use that feature??? Never mind that no call to a business should ever go unanswered, even if just by a voicemail, but I can see it now; "Uh, hello, someone there just called our business..." 2, maybe 3 of those max and you're sure to be reported to some state Att.'s office as a fraudulent telemarketer. Scott Eye9FX 05-09-2005, 08:39 PM I know this is old...but I wanted to let you know of another option. www.tollfreelive.com . We have their Virtual Office program and love it! We selected our own 888 vanity number. Their online suite is the best I have found. Give them a try LoganM 05-26-2005, 06:06 PM Kall8 is a good company if you require an automated system to answer your toll-free number calls. An automated system answers your calls like Press 1 for Sales, press 2 for Support, or dial an extention. They also have a neat call recording feature that automattically records all of your calls. They really give a lot of features when you signup as a customer. The problems I know is that a lot of callers will hang up as soon as they hear that you have an automated system. I estimate at least 10% of callers are lost during an automaticly answered call. Their rates of 6.9 cents are average in the toll-free industry. The lowest rates are about 3 cents, the highest rates are 9 - 18 cents per minute. I don't think they allow you to own your toll-free number either. Since they are a VoIP company, they have to register the toll-free in their company name and are essentially renting out the 800 number with an option to buy it at the end of your contract. That was the reason we went with them. However, I am starting to wonder what will happen with that number if I want to transfer it to someone else. As for registering it in Kall8's name. LoganM 05-27-2005, 09:12 AM Ackoo, Kall8 will typically allow you to take the phone number with you when you decide to leave kall8. Not all VoIP companies allow this though. Last I checked, kall8 charges a buy-out fee at the end of your term to allow you to keep your number. Since the FCC defines VoIP phone companies as communication companies rather than telecommunication companies, the FCC wont allow VoIP carriers to own number. They are literally renting the phone numbers from the local phone companies anyways. Logan M dynamicnet 05-27-2005, 09:26 AM Greetings: We've been using kall8.com for several years now. We are happy with them. Thank you. prautes 05-27-2005, 10:54 AM Just because one doesn't recognize a company doesn't meant that they are not a TELCO nor have less service offerings. I believe Kall8 is a part of International Telcom, which is a CLEC and has quite a few exchanges registered to them in WA. I am not sure if they are in any other states. http://tinyurl.com/brwzw shows their exchanges. They actually aren't a middle man. SMS/800 (http://www.sms800.com) is the national organization that regulates the toll free database. "Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) access the SMS/800 to reserve toll-free numbers for their customers and to set up routing information for the numbers." Verizon is a RESPORG just like International Telcom is, so Kall8 is no more of a middle man than Verizon. LoganM 05-27-2005, 11:42 AM If you ask Kall8 if you own your number they will tell you no. They will tell you that you are renting your number from them. If you want to change companies and keep your toll-free number, kall8 will charge you $50 to transfer your number within the 1st 12 months of service. >>FCC Chairman Michael Powell on VoIP -- "This is in no way different than e-mail and other peer-to-peer applications blossoming on the Internet.", "Such services have never been held to be telecom services." From the Kall8 website "Kall8's VoIP Termination service will deliver calls anywhere in the world at a substantial savings, using SIP protocol." Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) simplifies the integration of a wide variety of communications services and devices that use Internet protocols. When a call is transmitted over a VoIP network to a telephone, the call is eventually handed off to a traditional Telco for termination. VOIP providers are NOT telephone companies subject to porting laws. They own no telephones lines of their own. They lease them from a real telephone company like Level3 ( a CLEC). So complaining to the FCC about a VOIP company and porting won't get you far. They aren't telephone companies, not subject to porting rules, and the FCC isn't likely to deal with it. A VOIP assigned number is usually owned by a CLEC and leased by the VOIP company who then assigns the number for use by you. The VOIP company is the actual "customer" for the phone number, not you. You have no rights to port an assigned VOIP number under portability laws. The CLEC owns the number, the VOIP company is the customer. We sublet the phone numbers from the VOIP company and we have no rights at all to port that number anywhere. Logan prautes 05-27-2005, 12:05 PM Voip termianation is just one option for Kall8. Kall8 appears to be a division of a company that is a CLEC. Toll free numbers are a little different. It appears to me that since they are a Resp Org they are getting them directly from SMS/800 and having them routed to themselves since they are a CLEC. I don't think they are leasing any phone nubmers for their toll-free services, but I could be wrong. They do have a nubmer of exchanges registered to them... http://tinyurl.com/brwzw . For instance all the US Domestic number offerings appear to be their numbers. LoganM 05-27-2005, 12:35 PM Their toll-free numbers are also registered to them >>866-222-1818 >>Active since 2004 with International Telecom (Kall8) >>206-479-2878 But they are still renting the number to the end user. That's the part I don't like. Our company prefers to own our numbers. On the other hand, kall8 DOES provide a plethora of features that are unsurpassed by any other toll-free companies... But the people I know that use kall8 pay 3-4 times what we pay for our number with a different company even though they use about the same amount of minutes as us. |
