View Full Version : Which registrar/reseller will you pick? Just one, no reasons needed.
Dave Zan 02-21-2005, 11:04 AM A thread from another forum has inspired me to ask this. So what
registrar or reseller will you immediately use?
No reasons needed why you'll choose such, and state only one.
Good luck deciding who! :D
Bashar 02-21-2005, 11:53 AM enom
HuskyNOC 03-06-2005, 02:37 PM I will choose directi good pricing
mikelbeck 03-06-2005, 03:33 PM I'd like to use DirectI, but I'd like to test out my whois.cart installation before activating the automated DirectI link. Their "demo" reseller pages have been down for months, they keep saying they'll be up "soon". The last message I got from them said that their demo server was down for "upgradation" with no ETA for "be working".
I'm manually registering domains at RegisterFly for the time being.
dmaven 03-06-2005, 05:31 PM RegisterFly.com as my primary
slydus 03-06-2005, 06:16 PM NameCheap.com
Shqiponja 03-06-2005, 09:56 PM Tucows although they are kinda expensive...

why pay end user pricing for reseller account?
i know they are real good backend wise and support, but there is way cheaper reseller options to average support and robust API
Shqiponja 03-06-2005, 10:23 PM What do you mean, like buy from wild west domains or something?
Bashar 03-06-2005, 10:28 PM well any reseller plan WWD,directi, enom, moniker etc..
didn't you prepay for $500 to have this account?
Shqiponja 03-06-2005, 10:36 PM Well i don't know how tucows works actually, but i have heared only good things about them so i guess they are worth it.
Do they only sell to resellers?
Bashar 03-06-2005, 10:51 PM yeah and AFAIK its $10/domain
eSology 03-06-2005, 11:26 PM eNom.com :agree:
DecentHost 03-07-2005, 01:45 AM Enom.com :)
Kamejoko 03-07-2005, 01:57 AM Enom.com as well
Disgruntled 03-07-2005, 03:09 AM Namecheap.com (Enom reseller), because I like the low price on the privacy protection combined with the amount of control over the privacy protection options.
albatroz 03-07-2005, 01:45 PM The problem with registerfly and namecheap is that
they sell hosting. So how long will pass before they
start spamming your customers with hosting specials!
Actually registerfly does it, so this is why I dropped
them in favor of namecheap.... however... what
if namecheap starts with the same practice?
enom.com but I might be subjective.... :)

companies like registerfly and namecheap are meant to be for end users not resellers/hosting companies
if you're a hosting company you need a reseller program to be anonymous for your end users IMO

Bashar, you are totally right but unfortunately on today's internet, almost every registrar offer hosting, website builder and other similar services. It is very hard to choose a good partner to work with and keep it for more than 2-3 years. enom is definitely one of the best solutions by protecting the reseller with showing high registration rates to end-users on their own website.
albatroz 03-07-2005, 07:04 PM Yeah, this is a nice practice from ENOM
Krang 03-08-2005, 05:13 AM NameCheap.com if I need WhoisGuard for the domain, otherwise eNom.com.
enom also have a WhoisGuard feature, it is called ID Protect.
Masud 03-08-2005, 06:42 AM Registerfly.com :D
aebrahim 03-08-2005, 06:49 AM I use Gandi for all my domains. Gandi.net
tocache 03-08-2005, 08:49 PM domainsite.com :)
Disgruntled 03-08-2005, 09:33 PM I don't see the harm in the registry company also selling hosting service, as long as they don't pester you about it if you only want the registry part. I have a domain registered and hosted by Godaddy, and so far (six months) they have respected my opt-out of "special offers". I'd rate them behind Namecheap only because of higher price for Domainsbyproxy.
I have two domains recently registered with Namecheap--no hosting, just redirection. So far (two weeks) they haven't bothered me about the fact that they also sell hosting.
Some companies decide to annoy customers in the hopes of making a sale; some understand that it's counterproductive.
LightWeb 03-08-2005, 10:08 PM ---enom---
solidar 03-08-2005, 10:35 PM RegisterFly.com
The best domain manager I have ever seen

Yes, but WhoisGuard is alot less expensive than ID Protect, especially when purchased in bulk (I'm using it for 5 domains).
