View Full Version : What Does WHT Mean To You
Equilibrium 02-26-2002, 11:23 PM What Does Web Hosting Talk Mean To You?
- Is it apart of your day-to-day browsing? Why? When?
- Did it help you find your current host
- Did the forum reveal the truth about one you were considering?
- What is so special about WHT to you?
- Why do you keep coming back?
Or just tell us why you LOVE WHT or what it means to you?
:)
For all the reasons here:

Lats...
dside443 02-26-2002, 11:34 PM I love WHT. I've been following it for a long time, and only recently started to post here. It is one of the fullest, best sources of information a webhosting person can have.
Equilibrium 02-26-2002, 11:46 PM I'm here everyday from
7 AM to 12 midnight
I love it :bawling:
If there are free time - there's WHT to go to :)
Equilibrium 02-26-2002, 11:57 PM Amen "Omni"
I'm here most of the day, night and morning !
:D
desertdust 02-27-2002, 01:48 AM I'm new but have been lurking for a while. WHT has been informative to an extent and the posts here steered me away from a couple of hosts. But I've come to the conclusion that there is likely no perfect host, so I chose one based a bit on the posts here and a bit on what I was looking for. And since I need little more than space & speed at an affordable price I'm hoping that my choice will be satisfactory. I have had no problems as yet & therefore no complaints.

Relyc 02-27-2002, 04:05 AM It's a learning experience more than anything else. I think even the most knowledgeable people can learn something new.
I've been here for quite some time, and the information I've picked up along the way in invaluable.
And it's a nice place in general to meet some people, make new friends over the internet. Frankly if it weren't for WHT, Jorge and I would probably never have crossed paths and started HostCulture :eek2:
jonny b 02-27-2002, 06:16 AM To be honest its turned into a real playground over the last while.......
Yes, it certainly helps out a lot of people but the majority of the reading these days is 10 pages of slander because 'my host didn’t run my business as well for me' etc.....
i mean, you only have to read through half the larger threads to see how ridiculous they get by the last page ;)
Cheers,
21inchguns 02-27-2002, 06:49 AM It is just a great place to learn.......and to share knowledge......................

well, it is the first form I ever joint on the internet. I learn allot from WHT. people like Tim, chicken, robert, tina and many more provide lots of knowledge information. dudes like rewdog, one web are cool.
I not only gain knowledge about web hosting industry but also about different cultures, life, different religions and trends in our industry. my English is also getting stronger due to participation on this board.
so I guess this board is cool, atleast for me. oh, yes, its very hard to take out time these days, but any how I take out time daily to browse the board.
cheers
puggy106 02-27-2002, 07:58 AM WHT is my homepage, I normally have a look around about 5 times a day, justs have a look at the recent posts, i have yet to see less than 80 people on thee site, so there is always something new to read!
Everyone is always helpful, and i normally have a reply to my questions in about an hour max! Thanks guys!

benoire 02-27-2002, 08:22 AM WHT, sadly, is not what it was. When I joined, it was a fantastic resource packed with information on hosts, and pointed me to several companies who I would never have dealt with otherwise.
Whilst there is still plenty of valuable information here, and I still learn a lot from the forums, sadly the community spirit has somewhat nosedived. Whilst there are still some great people on here, there is far too much flaming and slandering, huge egos, unfair treatment of others etc etc. I don't visit anywhere near as much as I used to, just popping on now and again to either see what's been going on or check out the advertising forums, or when someone points me to a specific thread from elsewhere.
When I do come, I tend to spectate more than post.
There's still a lot to be said for WHT, but it has definitely deteriorated over the last few months.

WHT, sadly, is not what it was. I'm having this strange feeling of deja vu.
From approximately when you joined...
Posted in July 2001: "Yes, I do agree that it's not like what it used to be. I've been here for over a year, lurking for a bit before starting and it did feel like a family back then. It has changed due to the number of subscribers we get."
Posted in June 2001: "What builds a sense of community is people being able to express themselves without insulting others. Little snide remarks... are what don't contribute to that feeling of community. "
Forward, into the past:
Posted in November 2000: "These forums are suppose to be a place where people come to share/learn information. Lately, it is a soap opera."
The more things change, the more they stay the same...
redjackryan 02-27-2002, 02:31 PM Well i'm fairly new to these boards, but what i've seen so far has been of monumental help in convincing me that I am indeed crazy for wanting to start up a webhosting company.
Theres a lot of useful information here and what seems like a lot of good people who are willing to offer advice to the clueless noob.. Of course like anything, there appear to be a fair share of buttmonkeys as well..but thats the nature of the internet. At any rate, i'm still glad i found this place.
MDJ2000 02-27-2002, 08:50 PM I view WHT as a resource most of the time. The rest of the time it's a soap opera, in which I generally prefer to spectate. I actually lurked for about 6 months before registering, and I registered primarily because there was some really poor grammar on the frontpage (forum description), and it bugged me so much I had to shoot Chicken a pm, asking him to fix it. :)
perpetual 02-27-2002, 08:57 PM my English is also getting stronger due to participation on this board
that's a new use ! :)
bitserve 02-28-2002, 12:31 AM My last contract work ended in September. So I don't have much interpersonal contact with other geeks much anymore.
So, you all (forum members) have been my somewhat lacking replacement for office geek talk.
Somewhat lacking, because there really isn't much discussion going on. I notice that my posts on threads are rarely ever replied to. I guess a forum isn't a very good forum, actually.
Which is why I think I'm going to give up on this forum and just get another gig. I'm bored. Maybe I need to join/start a local linux group. :erm:
WoodShedd 02-28-2002, 01:29 AM WHT is a place to come when I need help, and when I get tired of all the BS at FWS.net
