We have been looking at dedicated servers, but it seems al of the low priced onesl charge so much extra for control panels. So I did a Google search and found the following free open source one: http://vhcs.net. It has a really nice, clean interface that I like more than cPanel's, and a little more than Plesk's. And I am not very experienced with Linux, so how would I install a conrol panel like this onto a dedciated server via SSH, Any input there would be very appreciated.

If you are not experienced with linux, stay away from a dedicated server for offering hosting. Instead go with a reseller account and purchase a VPS on the side until you do get familiar with it, especially when using an open-source control panel with little support and information.

If you look carefully on the site you will find english language packs!

The interface is BY DEFAULT in german on the DEMO.

I know it's a bit stupid, they could have setup english as default, but it's like that.

Apart from that, the interface is realy nice looking, and it seems quite usable. Still, it has less features that Domain Technologie Control, but it can handle reseller fully (DTC currently can't).

Yea its a really nice Hosting CP i never got it to work so i switched over to Web://CP! But if you can get past all the error message's about the depencies your a winner!

IM not pluging Web://CP but if you like VHCS you will like Web://CP all the diffence with VHCS is the GUI!

And as ive been reasured Web://CP will have a new user interface very soon!

I'm with justadollarhostin, a control panel is useless when you don't know how to run a server. You're asking for trouble, Unless you plan on paying extra money to someone else to manage the server for you, even then you have to find someone who knows VHCS.

Its worth experimenting around with if I get a cheap $10-15/month VPS.
