Hi
not sure where i should have posted this question, so i apologise in advance. I have a site that i have made and published but a minor glitch occured my navigation will not appear, i am using fp2002, this is my first attempt at this. If anyone can help i would be a very happy and appreciative newbie. The site is www.thevoicesmyhead.com . Even if someone can point me in the right direction it would be a big help.

P.s I have asked my host but they say fp ext are on, if that helps and none of my friends know or have a clue.
How did you upload the site?
Via fp or via ftp?

Hi
At first i was using ws ftp as that is what a friend told me to use, But then i switched to using the fp publish function. I hope i dont need to re upload as it is 350meg and i am on a dial up.

Could be a bad thing then.
An old story goes that if you have fp extensions installed, don't use ftp as it will 'damage' those extensions.
You may want to ask your host to reinstall the extenstions.

1. First thing ask your host to reinstall your FrontPage extensions.
2.What you can try is to delete the htaccess folder on your account and reupload the files that use the navigation via Frontpage. See if Frontpage adds a htaccess folder if not it didn't work.
or
3.If that doesn't fix it, totally delete the site and do a COMPLETE upload w/ Frontpage.
If you are using FP components try to stay away from FTP access. If you do use an FTP program just upload/download plain html/image files and stay away from other things with weird names/extensions :)

Thanks All
I have had the ext reinstalled, deleted my htaccess file and reloaded all the pages and files that had to do with navigation but no change so it looks like i will have to delete and redo, but thats next week once i get the cable modem. The thought of 30+ hrs uploading:eek: convinced me. I will let you know the result. Again may thanks.

It's all about password protecting certain areas of your site. There are quite a few guides about, and here's one of them:

Thanks for all your advice. I have tried all suggestions but it is still not working, can any one think of anything else, I am now trying to re u/l file by file, I am using fp2002, the plan i am on is $30 p/m, 600meg disk space, 25gig d/l per month, I would like to stay with the company I signed with but if the only alternative is to move I will as I need to get this working.

Have you actually created the navigation on the navigation screen? You need to link pages in a tree to form the navigation in order for your navigation bars to actually show up.

Yes I have done that, and it seems to work fine on my own computer when I preview it on my browser. At the moment I am going through it and checking and replacing any thing that looks wrong. Then I will recalc the links on the server. Hopefully this time it will work.
