What kind of mp3 files? Your work, or copyrighted material?

I can't imagine they would post asking for space to host illegal mp3's it must be their own work.

what a stupid question

its as if the only mp3s in existence are illegal ones...

how come if someone says they want to host a website, people dont get all panicky and say, ya but is it illegal? is it a rip?? is it stolen?

You need to have a cup of tea Lauren.

And sarcastic dwarf -- I don't understand what you could possibly mean by that. Are you saying that what I am writing right now is copyrighted or if I now let out a long mooooo sound that immediatly gets copyrighted?

Other than the fact that I am sure you agreed to terms and conditions when you signed up for your account here and the fact that your sentence isn't a unique work, yes, it is copyrightable. In the US, you do not have to register a copyright with the copyright office in order for it to be in effect.

Looking for the same kind of host like the topic starter. I'm using it to host radio-rips in mp3 format, nothing illegal with that.

i don't understand why in many public ftp's you can download and uploud mp3's. But in webhosting you can't host mp3's...

Those public ftps are sooner or later going to get into trouble. In web hosting you can do that, just that you will land into more troubles with the laws later on, is it worth it?

Presuming with that comment the O/P is meaning in deed copyrighted mp3's in which case I doubt you will find a suitable host who would allow that on their server(s). Not to be a bearer of bad news but most hosting providers frown upon the word mp3 right off the bat.

I don't any host that would risk getting in trouble with the law because of illegal MP3's. Forget it man. I;m surprised you had the will to even post that you own illegal mp3's and download them off FTp's on a forum as popular as WHT.

What your doing is wrong.

You are mistaken with your assumption that ripping songs off of the radio to then post them online as MP3's is legal.

If you do not own the copyright to the song or have permission to broadcast the song (which is what you would be doing) then it is illegal to do so.

Then you have never heard of ets-global.org or etn.fm before. These sites are one of the biggest sites offering radio-rips for download. They excist for many years already and have never experienced any trouble with it.

Also, the radiorips that I offer are from someone I know, I host his fansite and he really likes the fact that his radiosets are offered for download.

As I said previously - unless you own the copyright or have permission to broadcast then it is illegal.

Most of the legal mp3 download sites that offer music, radio-rips and concert tracks have a TOS that specifies what sort of licence of use they are transferring to you in their downloads. ets-global.org and etn.fm are the same site. I couldn't find any licencing information or a TOS on any of their pages.

If your friend has given you permission to broadcast his own songs that he owns the copyright to, then I wouldn't think you have a problem.

If you own the copyright, or have the written permission of the copyright holder then I see no reason why you can't host mp3 files...

If you're hosting them without the permission of the copyright holder, that's when there'll be trouble.
