What are LNN domain names? I've seen the term on the net, but can't find a definition of the acronym. Why are they useful?

Why are they useful? HostRefugee-Vince 02-18-2005, 08:37 AM That would be a 3 character domain name with the first character being a letter, and the 2 following character's being numbers. L stands for letter and N stands for number. Here is an example of an LNN: A32.COM Maxo 02-18-2005, 08:52 AM mashburn, what do you mean with "why are they useful"? HostRefugee-Vince 02-18-2005, 08:58 AM I assume people register these domains either because they want the domain for personal or business use, or because they are holding it in hopes that some company may want to buy it off of them in the future. 3 letter domain names, or short domain names in general are in high demand because they are easier to remember and are easier to type. Hope this answers your question as to why they are useful. Maxo 02-18-2005, 11:25 AM AuthorityHost, Have to disagree with you. I do not think there is high demand on 3 letter domain names. One can remember the domain name easier not only if it is short, but it has to have some meaning as well. HostRefugee-Vince 02-18-2005, 03:55 PM maxo, I have to agree and disagree with you. First, try to register a 3 character domain and you will see most of them are taken. A 3 Letter domain "LLL" your probably not getting at all. You have a better chance with an LNN but still it's odd how many of these are actually registered. So are they in high demand? Well I don't want one, but obviously other people do, which is why there are so many registered. Second, I can agree that it wouldn't help me remember if the domain is short. However, the reason these domains are/have been snatched up as quickly as they have is for 2 reasons. 1. The idea that a short name may be easier to remember. 2. The idea that someone may want to buy the domain off of you later. This is especially true with LLL's. I totally agree with you on the second part of the post, but just because we think something, does not mean the next person will think the same way. Heck, I still know alot of people that believe if they register HowCaniMakeAMillionDollarsAYear.com that people will never forget there domain. Now I know that's totally different then the short domains we are talking about, but it does point out that some people have no common sense. Regards, |
