Hi
I’m trying to establish a reselling business but even if understand the bandwidth, would like to understand how sites use available bandwidth. Can any one help me on this?

Lets say I have 19 GB of disk space and 19GB of bandwidth available.
I want to setup accounts with 50 MB disk and 1 GB of bandwidth.
If I divide the disk space by the 50 MB I can have 38 accounts.
If I divide the 19 GB bandwidth by the 1 GB, can only have 19 accounts.

So, how does this works?
Can I sell the 38 accounts and pray my customers never exceed the 1GB? or
Sell just the 19 accounts and loose half of the space?

Thanks

Here's a tip - search for overselling on this forum.

You'll do well.

You incorporate that cost into the plans, therefore you can legitimately offer and support what you say.

Say for example, you get 1G space and 10G bandwidth for $20/month.

You pay $4/G for overage.

You can offer 20 plans, 50M/2G for $7/month each.

Say you sell them all, you bring in $140/month and pay out a minimum of $20 to a maximum of $60. Of course, if they themselves go over their alloted bandwidth, you can charge them, say $5/G.

These numbers are off the cuff and don't represent anything standard, my point is don't sell plans cheap and pray that people don't utilize their alloted resources. Use a business model that actually generates a profit under the worst circumstances.

Thanks. For your calculations, if all my customes use the bandwidth I allocate to them, I will not make any profit.
By your experience which will be the average usage for let's say a personal site, a developer site and a business site?

Thanks
