View Full Version : Help Me Narrow It Down....

Hi Everyone,

What a task! I've spent the last two days looking at different hosting companies, reading all I can about selecting a good one, and I *think* I've got it down to 3 now.

First I'll tell you what I want...I've had web sites for several years now, but this is my first time working with a "real" server with my own domain name...which I have yet to get. If it helps, you can see my sites at http://www.pal-metto.com/jspece/incountry/index.html and http://www.pal-metto.com/jspece/. Nothing real fancy, but I want lots of room to grown. I've also been known to get a whim to try different things, so I want options available should I want to experiment (think message boards and stuff along that line).

After reading a lot of old threads here, my top 3 picks are:

Hosting Matters (Silver pkg)
Can-Host (Silver or Unlimited pkg)
FutureQuest (not sure...it would cost quite a bit more to get a pkg comparable to either of the above as far as storage space goes...)

Prior to reading review here, my top three were:

forsite.com
Pair
Communitech

Communitech is definitely out....the other two are still "maybe's".

Which host would you recommend for a first timer? My next plan of attack is to contact them all with a basic set of questions.

Thanks for your help!!

Josh

I very much doubt you can go wrong with any of HostingMatters, Can-Host or FutureQuest. I think between those three, it will come down to your own gut feeling and see who you feel most comfortable with. FutureQuest has wonderful user forums where you can get quick answers to short questions, and is probably worth the extra money.
