I do not really understand the idea of it. Do they really think people will sign up?

"We will not charge you anything for a shopping cart only $69 per month for hosting!"

One of the worst strategies/ideas I have ever heard of.

That would depend on whether they have any clients or not.

Just because a lot of guys hanging out here would not pay more than $2 per year does not mean to say real businesses will not be happy to spend a lot more :)

In reality, $69/month isn't a bad deal IF the service is top notch and it provides inventory control and a few of the other benefits that the ad states.

Keep in mind that Yahoo! Store costs from $40-300/month plus percentage fees -on top of- the merchant fees... so if you were to compare the two, you could easily say that Yahoo! Store is many times more expensive.

It isn't so much a measurement of price but of the total value provided for the cost.

Naturally, not all merchants have a budget available equal to $800-1000/year for their shopping cart - nor do they need all of the high-end features mentioned in that ad.

If they are able to get clients, then they have done better than us doing it for half or less. There are many different markets out there that are still willing to pay these fees.

Don't forget many companies would think is a bargain!
Its all about who you target.
