Ok about 2-3 years ago I created a website using a simple html template with SSI. The website is broken down basically into three parts. Right side navigation which is made of SSI, the middle part which is non SSI, and the left side navigation which is made of SSI.
The reasons why both right and left side navigations are in SSI is that I can update those parts and have changes made to appear on all my pages. The middle part is where the unique content of each page will appear.
Now for the last 2-3 years I've been created new pages and adding in new content to the middle part of the template. I've now have over 5000 pages.
So now it's time to create and update a new web designs. The problem that I run into is how do I create a new web designs for the site and yet update all the pages to have the new web designs?
The only thing I can think of is to create a new web design template. Then manually re-create each page with the new web design then cut and paste the middle content of the pages in the old web design over to the new web design pages. Of course I have over 5000 pages and I will die of old age if I do this manually.
Any idea on how to update all the pages with the old web design with the new web design quickly instead of manually re-creating each new page and moving the old content over to the new page?
