Hello all,
I have started my own web hosting business but I can not seem to get any customers what so ever. I have advertised like crazy but yet I get no one. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Take a look at my site, prices start at $7.95 a month. www.acidsun.com
Thanx

I'm not sure about anyone else but the site loads dead slow for me although it pings quite nicely. You hosted at rackshack yes? A few pointers...
The site looks fine in my opinion so no problems there
Plans & prices seem fine to me
Paypal can be an issue, I would suggest migrating to 2checkout/revecom or like. They look much more professional to paypal in my opinion. I use 2checkout and i think it rocks to put it bluntly
Try selling hosting to your friends, or offer a few free accounts?, make a special like first 5 pay for one plan get the next plan upgrade for free?
Hope these help!
Perhaps this should be moved to the Running a web biz forum
Good luck with your new venture
Yeah I agree with The Laughing Cow... for instance I'm in Asia and can't sign up for Paypal... so even if I want to sign up for an account won't be able to do so... solution => look for another web host. Probably a good idea to go with hostcharge.com or 2checkout.com. Anyone know others?

Ok, I havent had a problem with the loading, server has gone down a couple times within a month or two (only for a min), and yes i know paypal is not great, but what can i say, im broke, lol. I realized I posted in the wrong section like 10 mins later (sorry). But thanx for the advice and I think I will try a promo, like if you refer 5 friends you get 3 months of free hosting or something like that.
Thanx a bunch

You should get rid of the banner at the bottom of your site also. It looks very unprofessional for a business to be displaying ads on their site for a few pennies a click.

For an start, ADVERTISING other web hosting biz on your own page is just plan unlogical ( No offense ) but also just advertising period other sites from your site is unlogical mabey you would want to start by fixing that up and then mabey accepting credit cards... That may help and again ( no offense )

Paypal is great, I don't think anyone is putting them down. However, having it as your only form of payment is not going to help you get business. I don't know how many potential customers we lost when that was the only form of payment that we accepted. I do know that several people (who did not read first), cancelled their order as soon as they got the invoice from paypal, because they refused to use them.
