I am having a problem understanding this PRanking stuff.

When I go onto my forums opening page I get a PR3 then as soon as I click on any other page it goes to zero. Does anyone know why this is. Is there any coding in the php pages that interfere with this or should I enter any coding to encourage it? Would be grateful if someone could check it out

Page rank is determined by a number of things, mainly the amount of incoming links there are to that page. So, your forum opening page will have a number of incoming links from other websites, therefore giving it a PR of 3, your other pages will not have any links coming in from other websites, so they get zero.
