Ok I am going to assume that Webmin will install on a raq3 or 4. Question being, if it does install ok has there been any conflicts with Cobalt Control Panel or other issues with the way the server operates?

It will work on a RaQ3/4. And you can change things that will break the GUI.

Best advice is to stay away from manually editing things that the GUI handles.

Hi !

We use webmin (0.92) on all of our servers here. Now I'm wondering what actions will break the GUI. Cause we are using it for some time now but everything we did with webmin didn't break the GUI, we configure like sendmail, dns info and more of that all over webmin, but the GUI is still working.

So can you explain what exactly will break the GUI ??

Just wondering

Webmin is easy to install on a raq.
You can use sources or rpm from http://www.webmin.com or download a pkg (an older version) from
http://cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net/files/

I've been using it for a couple of months and so far I haven't experienced any conflict with the gui, which are reported in some raq sites.
This is what i found:

Souce: http://cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net/files/
You can use Webmin to manage a great deal of the server that the Cobalt interface will not let you near, but try to stay away from Cobalts areas, such as Apache, Sendmail, etc. unless it is simply too limited in your case.

Question: Is Webmin OK to install on my RaQ?
In short, NO. This topic has been discussed many times, if you
don't know what your are doing, do not install this. The RaQ deals
with things differently then Webmin. Webmin will corrupt the cobalt GUI if used by a inexperienced user.

On many post to mailing list most of the problems are reported with dns and quota.
What I would suggest is to keep using the gui for adding sites, users and DNS and webmin for the other tasks that can't be done with the gui.

You can also do a search on this forum since there are many threads about webmin.
