Hi guys,

Don't know if you guys recall a post from back in December, but anyway, I've gone ahead with the control panel developments, and I should be getting the first demo by the 8th of March (as quoted to my by the programming team). If a delay arises, I don't think it will be any longer than a week.

The final version is quoted to come on exactly one month later, and right now, my main concern is to find a partner to work with, and also some beta testers.

Beta testers

I am looking for only 5 beta testers, preferrably people who have had experience with other commercial CPs. Your job is basically to run through as many of the CP functions as possible for each version that comes out. Any bugs, feature requests and all that should be submitted in the form of a comprehensive report 15 days after each received version (there will be 4 version - first demo, first alpha, second alpha and beta before the final one).

Of course, you must own your own server to be able to test the various versions for me, right? ;)

It is not recommended that you attempt to run a real hosting company with any versions given to you to test because of possible bugs. Also, the CP will disable itself after 30 days, so if the final version happens to need a lot of tweaking, your hosting clients may be left high and dry...

What do you get in exchange? When the final version comes out, each beta tester will get 4 free unlimited domain server licenses for life. (the CP will be rented out, not sold, so that saves you a reasonable monthly fee)

Partner(s)

Okay, here's the serious one. I'll need someone (definitely someone who owns a datacenter) to be able to offer me one FREE server to run the software website on. The programmers don't expect the website to be running a lot of traffic, so I think to play safe, 300Gb a month will be fine. We may need to add more servers in the future if the server load gets too high, so a reasonable rate for additional servers will be a real plus!

There will be a distributor program for this CP, although the distributor is only limited to renting the CP license out to their own datacenter's clients. This server-providing partner that we are looking for will get a MUCH lower distributor price than regular distributors. This is in exchange for the first free server, and the lower rental pricing for subsequent servers.

Resellers of datacenter space, colocators and the likes need not apply - we require someone in full control of the server and uptime for this!

I am looking at server specs of:
Dual PIII 700+
1024 Ram
Dual 20 Gb harddisk
300Gb actual transfer

If you think you fit the bill for this role as a partner, please PM me. Don't forget to include the quotes for additional servers of the same specs!

Yes, as the partner, you get the demos at the same time as the beta testers do - I guess it will have to do as a way of reassuring any partner that the product isn't "invisible" :D

Oh, and now for just a brief rundown of what the CP can do:
1) It automates billing :D
2) You can run a full-feature affiliate program off it - it even comes with a Paypal mass-payment export feature. Each month, affiliates that qualify for the payout will be sent to you in the form of a Paypal mass payment list, and all you have to do is to export it into Paypal and pay all your affiliates at once - a real time saving feature, not to mention the fact that you will see more sales ;)
3) Comes with a powerful helpdesk feature that locks emails, assigns the right personals to them and so on...
4) Each month, if a site goes over the transfer treshold, the CP automatically calculates the additional transfer incurred and will bill the client for exactly that amount (you can pre-set the per-Gb overage price). If the client doesn't pay for the additional transfer within the next (you define) days, the site is suspended and will only reactive (realtime) when payment has been received. This feature alone will save you tons on manpower and effort in trying to track down all those bandwidth-crazy sites.
Oh, and you can even set an "upper limit" for various hosting packges. To prevent spam and all that, you can set for eg that a client on package A has 2Gb of transfer free, but strictly cannot go over 5Gb of transfer each month (the additional 3Gb being billed by the end of the cycle). Great way to prevent people from host-hopping in order to spam because even if they do run off (hope not ;)), you do not incur a ridiculous bandwidth bill by the end of the month.
5) This CP is a reseller's dream too - they get all the benefits of automated billing, can run their own MLs and the likes!
6) ...And loads more other features. I can show you guys a PDF format of the sales brochure in about April, when the final version is ready for release :)

PM me for more info if needed. Distributors, you may apply now too. :)

Oops - I think a little more info on the distributor part is in order.

Distributors, you MUST have your own datacenter, because what you are basically doing is renting the CP from us, and then "re-renting" it out to your datacenter clients.

We can only see a win-win situation from this. As the distributor, you get some quite low prices for the CP licenses, and on top of that, since the client gets his CP through you, when he leaves the license for the CP will expire, and he will risk some downtime unless he signs up for a CP from us (or another distributor, but again, only when they have sent their server over for colocation) immediately. This is a great way to prevent clients from "datacenter-hopping".

And on our end, our CP gets more market exposure :D

PS: Beta testers, please remember to submit your site URLs, and also, some info on your hosting company (eg, how many servers, how many employees, etc...)

I've got quite a few beta-testing offers already! :D

We've still got places for people to come in as beta testers if you are interested!

More importantly, we're trying to find that special partner that can provide the server free for hosting the CP website. Not a VDS, please - we are going to be needing the entire server for the various CP functions and the likes!

Again, PM me if you wish to apply or make an offer ;)

Do you have a website I can check out?

Also email me imran[at]cabalstudios.com about the partner option, we can help you out there, but obviously alot of things need to be discussed prior to that....

Kind Regards

Our website will go live only when the final version is ready :)

Could we have more beta tester offers? :D

avium, I don't think bumping is allowed without permission.

On a separate note: Do you have any screenshot available? What time would the beta testing starts? I may be interested.

What are the operating requirments, IE, os, system resources, etc....

If just normal Redhat, I have an extra box I'll test it on, its non-production, pm me with details if you need someone else....

Hi guys,

Sorry about the bump - I needed some more beta testers, see...

Peter: Beta testing starts in early March as soon as I get the first demo from my guys. Prior to that, I'll list the beta testers that qualified on this thread, and also email the lucky winners (?), get them to read a certain user agreement (all that no modification, no redistribution stuff as usual...), and then beta testing will commence.

Prohacker: It's going to be able to run on both a Linux and FreeBSD machine. If you're interested, just to let you know that your duties are basically to test the CP as thoroughly as possible, write a report every 15 days after receiving a newer version of the CP, and finally, maybe to help spread the news a little. There'll be an attractive affiliate program for the CP when the website is up ;) Of course, all beta testers get 4 lifetime server licenses FREE

Ciao :)

I have a free testing machine on our office LAN - we use it exactly for this purpose, to test control panels and system setups before they go live. FreeBSD or any flavour of linux is not a problem... PM or e-mail me if you're interested.
