View Full Version : I can't afford anothe mistake....Please help me!
xjones 02-25-2002, 01:49 PM Hi:
Please I need your advice on this. After months of frustration with *****, I need to choose a reliable and good hosting provider.
Here is my final list:
datahosts.net
mchost.com
liveplanets.com
flump.net
Which one is the better? I need to be able to install custom made cgi scripts and also some statistics, password protected directories and 24 hour support. As well as 99% uptime guarantee. Please help me with your advice...i'm getting nuts with ***** and I don't want to chose a new hosting equal or worst than *****.
Thank you so much in advance for your time and advice,
xjones
Alan - Vox 02-25-2002, 02:16 PM I would say mchost.com, i dont know if they have a 99% uptime guarantee or not, but there uptime would be much higher than that anyway.

ScottD 02-25-2002, 02:35 PM He was remaining on topic and answering the original posters question. Shouldn't we just be glad things are good enough after all that has happened that they can comfortably refer each other? If SplashHost were to offer his own services then he would have been breaking forum rules. He chose a more dignified approach which also serves to demonstrate to us that things are all better. No harm in that as I can see it.

ScottD 02-25-2002, 03:06 PM It is odd to see something so bad turn out good, but that's just because people aren't usually reasonable. It seems that SplashHost and MCHost have truly shown their true colors by working this out and assisting each other with their similar troubles. As I said, we should be delighted that it turned out as a positive instead of the neverending mud-slinging match it could have been.
Now, as for the subject of this original thread -- I think we could all benefit if we didn't bring this up at all when someone inquires about the services of either SplashHost or MCHost. Let us let bygones be bygones and go forth with peaceful co-existance. :D
WannaBaHost 02-25-2002, 03:09 PM Yet another dissatisfied customer..
WCSWEB 02-25-2002, 03:30 PM Currently I'm with Datahosts.net and they have been great. Their support is great, Their servers are always up and their speed is extremely fast.
With regards to the conflict with splashhost and mchost I'm glad that everything was worked out in a professional and manageable way :)
xjones 02-25-2002, 08:17 PM McHost is in Canada, I'm concern about that or it may be that I'm associating that name with *****...mmm
Datahosts.net I saw people saying it's great but other saying run away. I'm nervous I don't want to deal with another *****.
Other commnets?:D
Thank you guys again for your time and comments

Not at all associated with *****. I have personally hosted with ***** many years ago so i know what their customer service level means :D
Paul-UKWSD 02-25-2002, 08:42 PM Try Splashhost.com, Alan's support is the best I have experienced.

dhlsg 03-01-2002, 06:27 AM Been with McHost for few months and there have been a lot of issues - mainly with the new CPanel being bug ridden.
The level of support and technical knowledge at McHost hasn't been equalled by any host I've ever been with.
They forums are a real community there - everyone shares so much, I have learned untold things since joining them.
The scripts etc that McHost staff and forum members develop for CPanel/WHM are great - There is even an auto sign up script available to resellers to put onto thir sites.
All in all, I don't think there is really anyone to compete and I'll be getting a dedicated there soon too. I feel confident in them and would recommend them to anyone.
Especially as when they release their own control panel soon, it's going to be provided FREE with dedicated's - save you at least $75 or so on a dedicated with CPanel.
If you go with McHost,
You won't regret it.

Turboz 03-02-2002, 06:36 PM Try Donhost - http://www.donhost.com
I've not really had any probs with them so far.
SuperDon 03-02-2002, 06:42 PM Wouldnt agree with the last post.
splashhost or mchost are the ones to go for judging by the majority.
dhlsg 03-02-2002, 06:54 PM You have to pay 89 quid per month for your own personal name servers with them (donhost) - Their control panel does look good tho.
They provide anonymous name servers - downside, they have .uk in the name servers domain - not good - should have been set up with .com or .net in my opinion.

chihuahuabot 03-02-2002, 11:12 PM I can say from experience that Hostings Matters is a pretty good. I was with them for quite a while, but left because my particular hosting requirements changed.
I've been using splashhost for my hobby sites and static client sites for a month with no problems (the server i am on wasn't the one attacked).
Also, I am hosting sites with VenturesOnline... their customer service is just amazing. No uptime problems thus far, but I've only been there a month too.
If you want a Windoze solution, I also hosted with Host-All quite a while ago, but left cos I wanted to go back to a Linux host.
