Just wanted to see how you guys/gals handle backups on your colocated/dedicated servers. As far as colocated, do you just send the box with a tape drive installed and have the company rotate tapes for you?

I personally use raid 1 mirroring on older servers and raid 5 on the newer servers. We also have an extra drive in the server which tars up user files and important config files. I have never used tape backup so i do not know how most companies handle that.

With my e-commerce company (where we use dedicated servers @ GlobalCrossing), we use RAID 5 tapes for all of our servers and get the techs to switch tapes daily. Tapes are stored both onsite and offsite depending on a staggered, random roster.
