what's the best way to transfer the entire /home/sites dir from a cobalt box onto a redhat?

its 7 gigs in size, so tarring it up at once wont do it.

all the sites are in /home/site/site*

it's really lame.

rsync or scp

Use SCP if it's not a local connection. You don't want to send all of your clients data over an unsecure connection.
