RackMy.com 02-25-2002, 09:18 AM What type, Audio or Video? Pillhead 02-25-2002, 11:44 AM Its gonna be audio, im not too fussed about mega qulaity, just a nicely average radio cast that even the old 56k users can enjoy. phpjames 02-25-2002, 01:56 PM Darwin or Shoutcast RackMy.com 02-25-2002, 03:28 PM I would second shoutcast! KLL 02-26-2002, 03:13 AM is darwin good for a video cast. phpjames 02-26-2002, 03:14 AM That is darwins primary use. You can serve movies and mp3. Good luck. Pillhead 02-26-2002, 04:50 AM Rite, when using shoutcast, if I try to use some of the applications that feed mp3 into the shoutcast server, it just seems to hang. What are good pieces of software that will feed mp3s from the server straight to the shoutcast server ? One way of getting around it is I am running icecast. I have sucessfully managed a test stream which has been running all nite without fail. Which brings me onto my other minor problem. Running this cast, its has pushed the load averages way over 1. Is this really a problem, it doesnt seem to be hindering my machine much in the way of performance, as I am running a 2mb pipe here, and dont see any slow down in page loads for other websites on the server. Im really quite new to this streaming stuff, if anyone can give me more recommondations of complete suits for shoutcast, ill give this one a whirl. I need something that will play a playlist of mp3s and feed it too the shoutcast server. Haze 02-26-2002, 05:56 AM I used winamp and the DSP to stream to my shoutcast stream for over 2 years, not a problem. If your not using Winamp, I would give it a go. Just make sure you use the upto date DSP. Pillhead 02-26-2002, 07:17 AM Can you get Winamp for Linux ? Also, this box doesnt have a soundcard (I dont think anyways) the cast I have running now is working and streaming without a soundcard. What I want is to try out the other options that exist for linux, I want to be able to try the shoutcast server, which I can get running, but when I try the softtware that streams the mp3s into the shoutcast server, it just crashes :( clocker1996 02-26-2002, 02:08 PM Where can i get darwin phpjames 02-26-2002, 02:18 PM http://www.publicsource.apple.com/projects/streaming/ |
