(Stephen) 02-14-2005, 01:58 PM Did the people you sent email to request the emails from you? If not, yes you are a spammer.
jundat 02-14-2005, 02:03 PM yes. i select the email by news letter from my website ! but i afraid if i send by newsletter program. the hosting service will supend my acount, so i have to save all the email and send by my computer. :(
The content of the email is Law news in Vietnam. hic hic
MojoServer 02-14-2005, 09:44 PM Ohoh... not good. Try to speak to your reseller provider, and convince them that your 'spam' was a mistake and to give you a second chance.
Whenever my reseller clients break a rule and come to negotiate, I tend to let them have another chance as they made some sort of attempt to fix their violation.
jundat 02-15-2005, 02:44 AM :( i try by 10 email but he don't know this problem. ResellerZoom support by email, so i have to send email to them and wait. wait some minute and have the answer can't unsupend.
any body help me how to talk with them to unsupend :((
joshuayip 02-15-2005, 03:05 AM what is the response time ? Kindly update us, as I would like to know as well, how ResellerZoom deals with this kind of problem and what is their response time.
I am on hostingzoom, so the same set of ppl manages the server. Thanks
Joshua
I'd be interested to know too. I have 2 accounts with RZ.

So something not requested is spam? If that was the case my first email to you requesting to send you an email (nothing more) would be spam as well...
We do not tolerate spamming from our servers. The first time your client spammed, we informed you about it and unsuspended your client's account. We also informed you that if your client spams again, we will suspend it indefinitely.
The second time your client spammed, we suspended your client's account and this time we are not going to unsuspend it as mentioned so many times to you. We have a 2 times and you're out rule. The first time we warn you, the 2nd time and you're gone. There are no exceptions.
How do we determine if it's spam? Our upstream sends us an abuse ticket with evidence that your client was spamming not once but on two seperate occasions.
In regards to response times, as mentioned by the thread starter, they are within minutes. There really isn't an issue in this thread. He is just complaining because we wouldn't unsuspend his client's account for obvious reasons.
jundat 02-15-2005, 02:26 PM ok. i don't waint to talk about this problem :( but i think you should send for me email and talk about this problem before you supend an account. in the first time i see the acount has been supend but i don't know why. i think some one just fun with me and i unsupend for him. Plz send email notice to reseller acount to warning them with this problem .
anyway, sorry about my client.
any one help me to find the best server the same of resellerZoom.
(Stephen) 02-15-2005, 04:12 PM Unless it is a sales or support address that is given on a website you people to email, then yes itis SPAM if you mail me and I didn't request it or give you a card, etc.
But if someone harvested these addresses to send a bulk mail it is STILL spam.
I don't want email from every stranger bob and joe, I want email from people I know and plan to keep it that way unless it is for sales, support, billing, or business related.
Think I am alone in that? I think not.

ldcdc 02-15-2005, 09:09 PM Did the people you sent email to request the emails from you? If not, yes you are a spammer.I do not agree with this. If a visitor decides to send me an email to ask me for more info about a host (just an example), even though I don't offer such consultancy service, I would certainly consider the email genuine. It would not be spam.
If a host asks me about a reviewing process, even though there is no submission section on the site, that would not be spam.
As long as it is clear that the email is addressed to me, using my name and knowing what my site is about, and is not written in a bulk format, then the email is not spam IMO.
Bulk, commercial emails form most of the real spam. Sometimes people tend to forget that and say "anything I didn't request is spam." That's just too broad and an utterly dangerous definition IMO.
