How is everyone feeling about Cogents bandwidth performance lately?

Are they still slow during peak times? Anyone have anything good or bad to say about them?

Thanks,
Jamie

Also, anyone in Europe have any connecitivity issues with them?

The performance seems to depend on the provider utilizing the bandwidth.

I'm curious because I plan on pushing 60+/Mbps with them.

Here is my test for the day. Provider for today was www.lightone.net. I haven't found a decent Cogent provider yet. LightOne.net just happened to be the one i did today:

My Cogent readings as of Feb 25, 2002 @ 11:40AM - 12:10PM EST:

From my DSL connection (UUNet):
--- www.lightone.net ping statistics ---
1801 packets transmitted, 1415 packets received, 21% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 76.073/116.953/986.830/95.526 ms

From a Focal server in Jax, FL using AT&T & Digex (UUNet):
--- www.lightone.net ping statistics ---
1801 packets transmitted, 1439 packets received, 20% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 80.475/82.324/108.279/2.376 ms

From a Focal server in Gainesville, FL using UUNet, Sprint, & Genuity:
--- www.lightone.net ping statistics ---
1801 packets transmitted, 1397 packets received, 22% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 40.6/47.5/249.7 ms

I've been getting connectivity alerts from my monitoring server all day regarding lightone.net, so that's why I did them. Others aren't as bad, but still don't come close to UUNet and AT&T.

Just my humble observations. :)

www.lightone.net seems to have the same problems that my RackShack server did. Try pinging www.kingcomp.net. They seem to have the best Cogent connection I've ever seen.

From my cable connection using Road Runner (Time Warner):
--- www.lightone.net ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 73 packets received, 27% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 70.4/78.5/108.4 ms

--- www.kingcomp.net ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 100 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 50.6/56.5/94.7 ms

I'll add kingcomp.net to my monitoring, must have forgotten to add them before... thanks :)
