Lurleene 02-24-2002, 10:29 PM Assuming you are talking about credit card payments, yes, many processors let you charge manually. ECHO does, for one. I do it this way to minimize fraud (I have a chance to sniff around before I actually put the charge through). There's nothing more or less professional about it. As for whether your processor lets you do this, I don't know, since you didn't mention which one you use. xnet 02-24-2002, 10:44 PM a lot of merchants are cutting down on manual transactions - as the only one thats supposed to charging manually is them, not their resellers or affiliates... visa / mastercard rules are getting stricter.. thats why i decided just to become a full fledge merchant .. little more expensive to start with, but in the end, it will save me a lot. techar 02-25-2002, 06:24 AM what i actually meant was, cant we store their credit card details some place secure and charge money to their number?? or do we have to have the payment go to someone else who then processes it, in which case i would have to get a merchant account or something.../ heddesheimer 02-25-2002, 07:52 AM Originally posted by techar what i actually meant was, cant we store their credit card details some place secure and charge money to their number?? I would never recommend to store customer card numbers on any of your servers without decent encryption. I'm not sure but I think if you store them on your webserver in a database you could be held liable if somebody could steal the numbers. If you have a chance to pass your customer to a cc-processing company and have them store the card numbers, it would mean much less trouble for you. Just my opinion but maybe others may agree too :) Marian techar 02-26-2002, 03:01 AM so i guess its a better idea to get a cc processing company like ECHO or 2checkout.com, and get them to process the payments and the get them to deposit the amount in my choice of bank account, which they would probably charge about 5 US dollars or something, which isnt bad, but if i have 50 orders bringing in only 100 dollars and they deposit money into my chosen account for 5 dollars per order, then they would charge me 50$ which is really bad isnt it??? xnet 02-26-2002, 03:15 AM 2checkout.com charges nothing to transfer money into a US account. not sure about ECHO. Your forgetting the % charge and the transaction fee. How old are you? Because if you are not 18, you cannot sign up for a service like 2checkout.com. I suggest reading over the information at 2checkout.com so you get a better idea of what they offer and what they charge. techar 02-26-2002, 06:53 AM yeah 2checkout charges a fee for a bank of my choice outside US, but they probably charge this fee per transaction so i might end up paying a lot if i get a lot of small orders in a day... what about debit-it.com, customers can pay by entering their check number.... i might have to end up starting with accepting credit and debit systems, then move on to all the other ways of accepting payments... I don't think you understand the process. We do NOT deposit money into your bank account on every sale. You have an account with us, and we release money to you on a 2x per month schedule, when your account reaches the "minimum release level" you've chosen. Maybe you should take a moment or two and visit our site and click on the "Questions" link so you are better informed on the services we offer. Hi, You can use any bank of your choice. You do not need a "business" account, you can use "personal accounts". We are still looking at additional methods to pay our clients including funded debit cards & potentially setting up our accounts with some banks abroad. TomD tom@2checkout.com |
