Hello all,
Need some feedback from some people who have been doing this awhile.

I’m expanding my operations to include a more aggressive strategy for the resale of web hosting. I’ve been operating under the business name of Sam Moses LLC and Sammoses.com for the last two years, which has never presented problems from the standpoint of selling my design and development services. In fact, it’s helped, and added a personal touch, which many of my clients have told me they liked. Thing is that web hosting is a very different field than custom programming and graphics work.

In your opinion,
When targeting clients specifically for the purpose of web hosting, should I use a DBA, or continue to use the Sam Moses LLC name which is fairly well established, and has worked well thus far?

I would at the very least continue to use the Sam Moses approach, particularly for those existing contacts and those you meet locally or through your existing business. Then, if you want a more worldly type name as well, then set up a separate site.

Hi,
You know what they say... if it aint broke,, don't fix it!

If your looking to gain more customers from a different name, I don't think your looking in the right place. People don't care what the company name is as much as they do, how the company treats them. Having an incorporated name helps, and having the personal touch is always a good thing.

If you want to try different names, you could try a couple different things...
Buy domains with some other name, or keywords in them, like Sammoses-webhosting.com and point it to a sub directory of your web hosting area.

Or make a sub domain like : webhosting.Sammoses.com and not wory about the added registry expense. These two ways, you still operate under your corp, and get a little better sight to your web hosting end.

If your looking to change names to see if it will help, i think you would be starting all over from scatch. you'll have to repromote the site all over again, and build up your name all over again.

Look at how many different web hosting company names there are out on the web... it is endless. Its not all in the name. but having keywords in your domain will help you in some search engines too.

Good luck with your ventures,

Tim L

Thank guys,
I really appreciate the help.
I think I'll experiment with search engine placement again. It's been forever since I've dealt with them. But truly, thanks for the sagely advice.
I think this is going to be exciting.

Any thoughts on business models?
