Angry Coder 02-13-2005, 07:23 AM Hello,
What do you think of this company:

?
Your advise is appreciated.
They are fine. You can search it here i guess. You can also visit their forum and ask questions there and you can interact with their clients.
Thanks,
Jones
NS-Addict 02-13-2005, 01:19 PM Hi,
At a quick glance they took ok, but personally I would do some of your own research such as:-
1. How long have they been in business?
2. Do they exist / or has any one heard of them on WHT?
3. Do a Google search for reviews about the host
4. How long have they been in the hosting business?
5. What is their support/ uptime like?
That’s a few points to get you started
Good Luck and hope hostdime checks out for you.
HostDime is a large company for those of your that haven't heard of it. They own a data center in Orlando, Florida which isn't the best network. I can't give much more comments than that, I suggest you search google and these forums, there will be feedback.
joshuayip 02-13-2005, 02:12 PM I wont say they are the best in the industry. But I can say they will try their best to help you out in any situation related to hosting =)

dollar 02-13-2005, 09:46 PM I was with hostdime quite a while back, things might have changed since then. At the time I knew they were a large company in the industry and I liked the fact that they had their own datacenter so i opened up a reseller account with them to host a handful of personal sites at the itme. I found their network to be lacking and their support to be alright. There are cheaper alternatives that give you the same service in my humble opinion.
bigjoeb 02-13-2005, 11:14 PM My experience with hostdime has been excellent, both in uptime and support. imho a very solid hosting choice.

Angry Coder 02-14-2005, 01:21 AM Thank guys...
I'll NOT sign up with them after what I red on the second link miakeru posted.
I am not planning to open my own hosting company, I just have many sites and you know it's much cheaper to open a reseller account.
So, you said there's better service, please tell me where I can find it :)
Thanks
DesignsEdge 02-14-2005, 08:25 AM Hello Angry Coder -
I am in exactly your same shoes, a web design company that uses reseller account to host some of our client sites. So, maybe I can help.
I currently use hostdime, they are "OK" on service, as from reading the threads above you can see they get a 60/40 rating. But for you and I it's a little different - our problem, if they don't do thier job, our sites look bad - slow load times, down time, email, etc. gives us a double blow - hosting and design.
My experience with hostdime would be to say - eh, they are alright. There are definately some providers posted here that I would avoid like the plague - and I put up a thread called shopping experiences, both to gather information, and to allow some of the hosting companies to see how a potential customer views them, I can't post URL's yet, but its intitled :
Shopping Experiences - Hopefully help to others
My advice in the end, go with a good host with good service, spend the extra $5/mo or $60/yr to squeeze that lil extra out for your clients - best of luck -

SeeServers 02-14-2005, 11:13 PM I would like to say, I love HostDime!
I have 3 dedicated servers there and others at ThePlanet, managed, Ezzi and HostDime has the best network from my testing. The Tech support is very helpful, even when I or one of my staff messes something up in the servers, they are there to fix it within a few mins. HostDime is also really good at listening to what I need, coming up with a plan and as long as I pay they do it ASAP.
I also have a shared account on Dime 67, for a small test site of mine, and it has had 100% uptime for the last 7 months I have had it.
Overall I give them a 10/10, I use WebSitePulse and other than downtimes I have caused (i.e. Reboots, Software Upgrades) I have had 99.97% uptime will the dedicated servers.
I have a very big site and I couldn’t trust its hosting to any other company, I’m moving over all of my servers during 05-06.

That's weird.. I seem to remember a few times when their network appeared to be completely down. I wonder what made you so special as to not experience this. Are you using off-site monitoring to determine your uptime? If so, can you please link us to the data?
Nearly two months ago the network went down.. this seemed to also bring down the homepages for all of their satellite companies:

Multiple people from different locations also seem to have noticed a large outage in this thread, as well, nearly six months ago:

Oh, and who could forget the wonderful hurricane outages that left EVERYONE 'high and dry'?:

joshuayip 02-15-2005, 03:30 AM Do you guys get warning a day or two days before hurricane hit florida? I may need to just backup my data , just in case =)

JenniH 02-15-2005, 02:57 PM We've only been with these guys a few months... but have had no problems whatsoever.
Their responses to our questions have also been pretty instant, and helpful.
