View Full Version : Effect of buying ads from targetedvisitors.info?
imago-allan 02-13-2005, 04:46 AM Greetings!
Before making any decision, we would like to ask the repercussion of having ads run through targetedvisitors.info and other similar services.
What happens to your search engine ranking? What will be the implication?
Please tell us about your experience. Any positive or negative result?
Thank you very much!
:)
Tuddy 02-13-2005, 06:25 AM HttpTalk seem to have used and be happy with them :)
-MarkK- 02-14-2005, 09:56 AM I loved targtedvisitors.info
cywkevin 02-14-2005, 01:35 PM Your search rating will get a temporary boost but that's about it. You probably won't generate any sales from it.
IGobyTerry 02-14-2005, 01:45 PM I've purchased probably 20,000 untargetted visitors and tried about 10,000 of the targetted visitors. Waste of money.

I thought that was wrong. His advertisers are not paying for untargetted adviews. People pay a high cpm (look at the rates for here) for targetted adviews. Buying useless traffic (yes useless I messed with a few different traffic places and no results at all) and selling targetted adviews is unethical. It is even worse that he admits to it. If inet bought 100k uniques for like 150 bucks and sold it for a grand people would be having a fit.
Intersabre 02-14-2005, 04:23 PM You will not gain any ranking in the search engines. At least on the ones that get any significant traffic (MSN, Yahoo, Google).
targetedvisitors is merely a reseller of another site. I remember it being listed on some forum and the prices were significantly cheaper (40+%).
MarketingSolution 02-14-2005, 11:18 PM There are tons and tons of websites reselling targeted traffic.
( Traffictaxi.net )
My partner and I were doing a bit of research for a client, and we had it traced back to a certain ad program that was responsible for popups on your computer.
I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone, but some people do benefit from it.
imago-allan 02-15-2005, 11:05 AM What I am contemplating is that eventhough some of you may not have sign ups on your hosting service, the services that I will be advertising will be that of our design services. I am not really sure if that will generate sales.
Any more comment?
:)
Im_Goodspeed 02-15-2005, 11:14 AM its might be a scam just like other "targeted visitors" services. their visitors never go beyong the first page. how targeted is that?
Anybody know what the main company is these companies are using?
MarketingSolution 02-15-2005, 08:39 PM TrafficTaxi.Net is a popular one.
TrafficTaxi.net/resellers/ <--- Reseller link.
badhosts.org 02-26-2005, 10:00 PM targetted visitors in my opinion is just a flashy way of saying "popup ads on a related site". I was given 10k targetted visitors by a friend for a present, abosolutely no leads.
thomas.smith 02-27-2005, 12:03 AM Spent 150 bucks with them for "targeted" ads... And it was a total waste of money. Not a single order. If I spend 150 bucks elsewhere I am getting around 20 orders.
It is always the same if you ask people about targetedvisitors.info: "No sales !" If you can show me only one person who can honestly say that he got a single order from their traffic I would be quite surprised.
Ripside 03-02-2005, 05:05 PM I made a payment for the 50K visitors, whatever, a few days ago - I haven't been heard boo from them, even after mailing their support address and submitting a trouble ticket. I mailed Mr. Grossman to see if I can get a response from him.
So far I'm not really impressed.

stokes_83 03-02-2005, 07:18 PM We've found that buying targetted traffic usually results in 0 sales. It is more a brand development investment that a sales investment. But the question you need to ask yourself is if the brand awarness you might receive worth it, considering the vistors you will get are being tricked into visiting your site?
If you ask me, targetted traffic using popup or popunder ads is SPAM. What is difference between opening an unwanted browser window and sending an unwanted email?
I would seriously recommend using traffic that is generated by redirects from expired domains rather than popup ads. Your conversion rate will be higher (although it will still be terribly low) and your less likely to offend your visitors by using popups.
thomas.smith 03-02-2005, 09:15 PM The question you might ask yourself is rather: "Does it infact build brand awareness ?". I mean if it can`t cause any sales chances are good that these visitors do not even look at your site. I mean they were trying to access another domain that has expired. What would you do in this case ?You would just close the browser and forget about what you have seen. I think its just a 100% waste of money

$150 and you get 20 orders? Tell us your secret.

Actually, I believe the right question is - what kind of a message is your brand sending to those that view the popup/popunder with your ad?
Brand awareness is only a good thing when it's associated with something positive.

Yes, agree...
GWDGuy 03-31-2005, 06:29 PM I don't think I have used this particular service but I have used several different ones with no results. I probably have spent 1,000+ on different sites last year using this method.. My thinking was to at least get the new site on the map by getting 10k people to see it..
One of the sites I was advertising was a Free Guest book service that had no pop-ups or banner ads.. i figured this would be a cheap way to let "webmasters" know about it.. I actually got hate mail from some people saying that how could I promote a pop-up free guest book using pop-up ads.. hahaha.. Kind of funny I guess.
I have even tried using Bravenet.com ad services and have had zero luck.
Save your money I say and spend it buying text links on some decent websites instead
My 2 cents

What was the bandwidth hit for that volume of traffic? Does all those 20,000 load the full page? Or is it just a http request?
