This must seem very basic but how important is it. I realy don't want others to be able to see who I get my hosting from as a reseller. But, do I set up a special one for each type of hosting company I have?
Then what is recomended, do I get a domain to use just for a DNS?
Thank you in advance for any helpful comments.
Many webhosts provide a nameservers a little more private that doesn't have anything on the nameserver's domain name.
Maybe you should ask your host if he can offer this?

Thanks that's a good idea.
Also, I didn't know if it was more professional to have your own nameservers registered to the Co.
whatever

If you are small, ask your reseller for nameservers like "ns1.nameservers.com" or "ns1.nswebhost.com". Ensure that the domain does not redirect to their provider....
Once you grow bigger THEN get some private nameservers.

You can have your host setup an alias in there dns so your main domain has ns records:
you will need to do two things:
Step 1: have your host setup an alias record to point (prefix).yourdomain at there nameservers you can do as many as you want or they let you.
Step 2:
with your domain registrar: you should have an option to create a nameserver based on your domain name.
create: ns1(or whatever you like, this should be the same info you gave your host) point it to your hosts dns ip.
done, no need to change hosts unless of course they are unwilling to do this for you.

Anyone who is really interested will have other ways of finding out - the only way to stop people finding out who you resell for is simply not to resell.
However, yes you should run your own nameservers even as a reseller - either "real" namservers or simply CNAMEd onto you hosts nameservers.

Its worth thining about keeping your domain for DNS separate to the domain for your company, yes.

we use the .net of our domain for our name servers. that way anyone doing a lookup of one of our clients would see easly who hosts them. This could be good and bad it all depends on the type of sites you host.
If you are planning on offering reseller plans you will want another set of name servers that do not referance any company. Most resellers feel more comfortable with this.
