Can anyone recommend a good reseller on the West Coast or in the Mountain Time Zone? Preferrably Windows servers.

Not necessarily. I live on the west coast and my country has a Mountain Time Zone, but I'm not in the US.

You're probably right, but why should we assume that everything is in the US unless otherwise specified? That was my point. This forum has participants in countries around the world, and every country with a border on the western edge of a body of land has a west coast. As for "Mountain Time Zone," do you know the names of all the time zones outside your own country?

It's simple courtesy to name the country you're talking about when you're writing to a global audience. :)

It's simple common sense to assume "west coast hosting" near the "mountain time zone" is generally going to be US..Anyhow, no offense to any other nations which might have west coasts....but when I ask folks who live across the pond where they live they don't generally say the west coast.

Canada, Mexico, and Australia, for starters.

Again, that's my point. They may live on the west coast of their countries, but they probably don't describe their location as "the west coast" to someone who isn't in their country unless they say "the west coast of Australia," for example. "The west coast" is a common term in my country to refer to where I live, but I wouldn't assume that people in other countries would know where I am if I just say "the west coast."

I wasn't offended, just irked that it was assumed that a global audience is expected to know when the poster is referring to the US without naming the country. This often happens in forum and newsgroup posts.

Anyway, enough of that. Now that we've established that the OP is probably looking for a reseller host on the west coast of the US, preferably a Windows reseller, does anyone have any suggestions?

I would prefer the west coast or mountain time zone of the U.S. but Canada would do fine too.

Some of my sites use vbscript to display the date and insert the date into a database. This has caused a minor problem with sites hosted in other time zones. For example, if a client's business is loacted in San Diego (California, USA) but their site is hosted in Florida, USA and someone surfs their site at 10:00pm PST, the site will post the next day.

So do you want PST or MST?

Either would fine. I'm actually in sunny Arizona, USA and we don't change our time for anybody. So half the year we're PST, and half MST.

(For the fastidious forum readers, the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona, USA does observe daylight saving time.)

Can you put in Los Angeles, CA hosting and get back thousand of results.

You actually get about 1.8 million results in Google for: Los Angeles, CA hosting, which is why I posted the question here.

In case someone has a serious recommendation, I'm not limited to Los Angeles. Either the Pacific or Mountain time zone would do. I already have good hosting arrangements on the East coast, USA.

By the way, here's a plug for Canada. I had several sites with ExpertHost (http://www.experthost.com/) and their price and reliability was great. I outgrew shared hosting but would highly recommend them to someone looking for that service.

I see why you are looking for a new host, I just went to your site and it is down.

NetNation (http://www.netnation.ca/) is located in Vancouver, Canada (on the west coast), and they offer Windows servers and reseller accounts. I can't recommend them or not recommend them because I haven't hosted with them; I'm just giving you the name of a company that might have what you're looking for. (And even if the forum rules allowed me to say more, I wouldn't have much more to say about them. I've just come across this company a few times, so I know about them.)

Do a search in this forum for NetNation and you'll get lots of results.

Have you actually tried your advice. Let me know how well it works out. Most results for 'host' 'webhosting' and 'webhost' do not even relate to a host. If you go by the adwords results they are typically big companies that will not be CA based. The rest of the half-way relevant results will end up being Dedicated and Co-Location because on a typcial site there isn't meta tags for Los Angeles, Ca.

The origional poster came here to look for people's opinions on previous hosting expereiences with hosts based out of the west coast.

HTTPme is in One Wilshire in LA :)

It apears they are only cpanel (linux) resellers. They need to go with a H-Sphere or Helm reseller to get windows hosting.
