Has anyone tried the VPS Reseller Hosting plan? I have heard that it does automated provisioning and billing. I was wondering if anyone has checked this out it sounds pretty cool.

Hi!
Impossible. It's not even available yet. I just chatted with them...we are looking at general availability shortly. The features you mention are H-Sphere features, btw.

I'm in the middle of the road with H-Sphere. I don't know where I really stand on it..good or bad.

The VPS's they should be offering come from P-Soft as well. I have had experience with those...and can share a few things.

I have a freeVPS through Jodohost...and, quite honestly, have been disappointed with it. There is no real resource management in it to prevent one user from taking more than his/her fair share of the server resources. That's why my attention has been on Virtuozzo.

I made a request for lynx to be installed...and they didn't even know what it was...and asked *me* where to download it from.
Umm...yeah...right. The DVD your OS came on..perhaps..like the one I have right here? It didn't come with a compiler either...it just seemed like more trouble having to bring all those things in myself via the command line.

As I said...odd. Anyways...Hivelocity hopefully will do well with it.

I got my beta plan it is really cool. It basically just gives you a new option to create a virtual server plan that you can sell by just having a link on your website if you would like to test one PM me and I will set you up a VPS on my plan.

Hi!
H-Sphere is very nice. Now..if I can get GCC and lynx on it...much better! :) Command line ftp is a work of the devil, I tell you! :)

Hi!
There are *exhaustive* manuals available on H-Sphere setup.
They are here:

Why couldnt you get gcc and lynx ? Just install them..Actually I think gcc should be installed but lynx shouldnt be hard to install.

Hi!
Nope. I've already logged in to the new server..it's just like the one I had at Jodohost. It just seemed like they should be able to do it...<sigh> I guess I could do it myself (grumble).

Hi!
Not to worry. I've decided to get this to work. I found centos RPMs..and before the night is out...I think I'm goingto have working GCC and lynx on this server.

The Hsphere VPS is a great software. But yes, it doesn't impose any real limits on CPU. That can be good and bad. Good for the user, since they can get extra throttle when needed. Bad for the host, they need to watch things carefully

The HSPhere VPS is currently having some stability issues that PSOFT is fixing. Mainly with the VPS kernel

To Chris:

I am really impressed. First..I was impressed with the speed the virtual server was setup. Second, I was delighted with how easy RPMs are to deal with..I had never dealt with them before...and..well...when you've never done it before...!!! Anyways..thanks for the trial server. How long will the trial be? Hivelocity's senior Linux admin is great..I am so impressed after the first day. Thanks again,

Just installed directadmin in to one of their beta VPSes. Had to install yum then gcc, once that was done the install went without a hitch. So far so good.

Direct Admin is the best option for those servers. although CP+ works as well but it is more expensive.
