RaQ3 / 128 MB RAMOur servers will run circles around other machines advertised here for web hosting.
From reading your posts I believe your quality of support and your network might run circles around others', but I have a hard time believing that a RaQ3 (is that 450 mhz or less?) with 128 megs of ram will run circles around any of the recently advertised Intel or AMD machines...

Hehe got a good laugh out of that one. :spiny:

The reason I laugh is that I debated it. Then I figured that MOST sites are static HTML and pictures. A RaQ can handle this like you wouldn't believe. We have a RaQ3 (io.valuetech.net) getting 3 hits/sec average (3 x 60 x 60 x 24 = over 1/4 million hits/day).

Will the server crunch PHP & MySQL sites as good as 1 GHz servers? No. Will static sites load faster than pretty much anywhere else? Will we be in business in 2006 as we were in 1996 (see wayback machine n-i.com)? Yes.

Thanks for the kind comments about my posts too. Kudos.

drewnick,

Nice offer. Can you explain something to me though because it doesn't seem right.

Your post implies (from my perspective at least) that I or whoever buys this plan would own the server after 1 year of business. So by my calculations, ~$100 setup + 12x~$100/month = $1300/year and I would own the server at the end? Am I misunderstanding that?

We can co-lo it for $25/mo once it is complete, or ship it to you. The choice is yours.

RAM & HD: Market price one-time (since you'll own it after 12 months)

Bandwidth: $2/GB

Or $.10/GB in 5 billion GB increments. :-)
