OK... now presumably, some people are going to make a decision about either MCHost or splashhost based solely on the mis-information they've read in these forums.

Now if one company accuses another of something.. and the intermediary party (WHT) becomes the "messenger".. does that make the intermediary party liable if the accuser sues the slanderer?

I believe it does. Regardless of the outcome.. allowing that thread to exist puts WHT in a legal position of aiding a slanderous accusation. They can be named in a libel lawsuit, since THEY are the ones that allowed this to happen.

(Not sure how to better word that, as I'm not a lawyer.)

Anyway... this is further compounded by the fact that a WHT moderator (chicken) is directly involved by providing IP addresses.

I certainly hope WHT has a decent lawyer on retainer.. because you are involved in this whether you think so or not.

We can ban trolls if that's what you're asking...

What you 'believe' wouldn't amount ot a hill of goat balls in court. I'm not familiar with every aspect of the law in regards to your question (not that it is posed correctly, but I'm smart enough to ignore that and read through to what I think you mean).

We allow many threads to exist. This is a discussion forum. If you'd like, we'll remove and lock every thread that mentions a company. You will not be able to praise or complain about anyone or any company's product or service. That would make for a very tidy forum.

Oh, and I didn't provide IP addresses. I don't think you know what you're talking about (from the law as it pertains to the forum, to the law as it pertains to slander and libel, to my 'role' in this, to...)

You surrrre you're not a lawyer? ;)
