I just started a reseller account. Can someone please give some ideas (or a link to another thread) on how to get more clients. Thanks !

If you're new in the reselling business, I would just advise you to seek out new clients in your local market.

The obvious first point of contact would be your family, friends, and neighbors. After that, you can seek out new clients by going to your local schools/universities, churches, and community centers. Build a good foundation of clients within your local area and go from there.

Try advertiseing in the local paper.

I was thinking that I can make a flier. I would go around my neighborhood and drop one in each mailbox.

Anything wrong with this idea?

I don't think there is. You've got to let people know you're there some how.

1) Try having a nice flyer printed up at a local printer . Then contact your local paper and ask about doing an insert into the Sunday paper.

2) Have some nice business cards done up (Vista Print even has free ones, although paying for custom cards looks better) and leave them everywhere you go.

3) Contact a some local businesses and ask them if you can leave flyers there.

4) Write a press release

5) Buy a run of site banner on your local newpapers website.

6) Contact local web designers and offer to host their website for free in exchange for them referring their design customers to you.

That's a start. Get creative. Nobody can really tell you the best methods of advertising, but a few Guerilla techniques can be very lucrative.

Agreed, you should start out with your local area, FunkyFrog gave you some good advices. After building a client base and start making a reasonable profit you can expand on the internet with programs such as google adWords.

ask your provider to give you advice and what works for them. I know that most hosting providers do not really do this but there are some out there that will give you access to their marketing materials and actually help their resellers sell. These hosting providers might charge a little more but in the end I would think that is the way to go.

The only thing I see wrong with printing up a flier and putting it in people's mailboxes is that I believe it's illegal to put things in people's mailboxes. Only the post office can legally put something in a mailbox. That's why you see ads for pizza places and chinese food etc.. attached to people's doorknobs.

A really good way would be to make a press release, and try to get it put in as an article in the local paper. Like, for my area, it would be the Northern Echo.

It might cost a hella lot (I might check out some prices later), but, for that one piece of Advertising, if you got a front-page ad (like "HostingCompanyName, Launched, Pages 3 - 4" or something like that, you could gain loads of clients.

How successful this would be I don't know, but it's worth a try. HostingFrog also made some great suggestions!
