Hello,

I am looking to design a community site that is mostly based on member blogs. My requirements seem simple, but I haven't been able to find free blogging software that looks like it does the 2 things I need it to do.

#1 - It needs to allow each user to do their own blog but have a "central blog" on the front page that has the most recently updated entries from any of the user blogs. Each consecutive entry on the central blog would usually be from different people/blogs.

#2 - I'd like to have a photo of each member on the site and for this photo to be displayed on their blog page (easy enough) but also for a thumb version to show on the central page when their blog entry is on the list. Scrolling down the "central blog", one would see the small photos of each blogger.

Anyone have a good suggestion of how to implement this seemingly simple configuration to the site?

Something you might want to think about: Say in the near future your community has over 500 members, are you going to have 500 pictures AND 500 enteries on the central page?

I don't think you can get one off the shelf. You've gotta customize it some how...

No, it would preferably just list like a few on the central page... the most recently written entries across all blogs.

OK, I found what I am looking for with one of the free add-ons to Plone (http://www.plone.org).
