My business uses and will continue to use PHP Live! (http://www.phplivesupport.com/). The only real downside with this application is that it is not Mac friendly. But that only effects a handful of my clients. Good luck with your search.

I found a website called livechatdir (http://www.livechatdir.com) . They review live support software and often have someone online to make recommendations.

I'd recommend Cerberus Livechat (www.cerberusweb.com). It's got a great Java app and a lot of new features coming soon :)

Try Help Center Live (http://www.helpcenterlive.com). Current version is 1.2.7. Some users are having different problems, but many use it now with no problems; myself included. Version 2.0 is in alpha stages and is simply outstanding!

Oh, the price Free. Can't beat that!

I recommend PHPLive Premium, it's the best piece of software I've ever experienced. It's not expensive too!

Why don't you try Support Logic ? It's free if you have Fantastico installed on your server . Also Help Center Live works fine.

I think many can argue against Liveperson being the "best". Many of the others listed are just as good, if not better.

I just bought the new Cerberus Livehelp and so far I am impressed. Handles multiple agents and the visitor tracking reports graphs are wonderful.

Indeed, it's a great piece of software :) It lacks a few things, but I know the Cerberus team plan on adding in lots of interesting new features :)

Yes, I have read some of what they plan on the forums.

The only thing I wish it had is a sound alert that there is a chat request. The tray icon is great and flashes when there is a request, but if I am busy and not paying attention it can be missed completely.

Other than that one small thing it's the best live chat software I have used yet.

It does have a sound alert... and it's quite a easy to recognise one as well :) If you aren't hearing it, I suggest you check your installation for a 'visitor_wants_chat.wav' :)

Hmmm, I see the sound file but I did not hear the sound at my last chat request and I ended up missing it. I did not do the install myself so I was not even aware of the file.

Thanks for pointing it out, I will look into why it is not working.

Help Center Live is an amazing piece of software. Live support and help desk in one and it's free. If you don't have a really heavy load, it does the job pretty decently.

Hi,

Cerberus does in fact have a sound warning in place and is very distinct. I love their products as I have the helpdesk as well and their new public gui is awsome looking.

These guys are great.

www.cslh.com is pretty good. Just set it up a few days ago and am using it on a few sites...

Seems like nice software. Hopefully there will be a windows client created for it soon. :)

With the latest version of PHP Live (v3.0) it supports Macs completely. It has been tested and works with Safari, Firefox, Netscape and Mozilla.

However, It doesnt work with MAC IE but that's because Microsoft is no longer developing Mac IE so its outdated.
